Model: TL-SG108E
Hardware Version: V6
Firmware Version:  1.0.0 Build 20201208 Rel.40304

I purchased the TP-SG108E several years ago after setting up a Synology nas. Since than I've been using it as as unmanaged switch letting it do it's thing. Now I have added several more including a smart tv. Everything seems ok but was wondering if I should start managing things to improve throughput . I  don't know so I thought I'd ask. Also am on Firmware version: 1.0.0 Build 20201208 Rel.40304

TIA

Hi  @Cyberwasp

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

If your network is working properly currently, we suggest that you can leave things as they are.

The TL-SG108E has gigabit ports, which can work with your current network devices and make a stable connection.

I used a TP-SG108E switch in my network before upgrading to managed switches and never had any problems with throughput.  Two of its ports were connected to a Synology NAS (DS214+), initially as a LAG group and later for connectivity for two different VLANs.  You did not say if you are using VLANs or if you have everything on one network, but in any case I would leave things as they are.  The switch can handle 1 Gigabit connections without any problems and most devices in a home environment (smart TVs, etc.) don’t really need fast connections anyway.

@jra11500 Everything is on one network. I truly don't understand  VLANS, maybe I  should. Everything I own is no more than 1g.  The tv i bought a 1gb USB adapter for as the built in one wasn't cuting it.
