Hello,

I cannot stress enough how disatisfied I am with the management of the Deco X10 products.

I own a set of three Deco X10 devices. And as far as I can understand the only practical way of managing them is through the Deco app on my Android smartphone. Which is a complete disaster, to be honest.

I am so disatisfied I do not know where to start from. Probably, the most annoying thing for me is the fact that once the Android app loses connection to the X10 devices it is virtually impossible to reconnect to them without resetting the devices!

Yes, your are not mistaken: you HAVE TO RESET all the devices in order to get them back in the Android app!

For example, today I run the Android app while being connected to (Kaspersky) VPN. As a result, the app "forgot" all about the X10 devices. The only way to re-establish connection was to reset them in order to be detected again. And, mind you, that is no walk in the park, either. Resetting takes much more than pressing the reset button for one second (according to the documentation): the procedure does not work or works randomly. And even if it works, successful detection is not guaranteed. At some point, I had the QR code of one of the devices scanned and managed to detect it by clicking "try again" for the 20th time. Then it was the second device's turn. No better luck with that, either. At some point, the device showed up in the app but keeps reporting as "disconnected" EVEN THOUGH its led is GREEN and has established connection with the main X10. Who would have known? ....

Excuse me, but this is a situation way below any consumer-friendly standards companies such as TP-LINK should have.

I am not looking for answers. I just want to express my deepest disappointment with this line of products and I will throw them away as soon as I can.

I have lost all faith and trust in TP-LINK.

Thanks,

  @dpant same, I own two s7 and bought 2 X10.... and it's a nightmare, does not work properly, I probably will configure them as AP for an old router to be the DHCP server that just works.

  @dpant

Hi, thank you for sharing your experience with Deco Mesh, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the connectivity challenges and management limitations. I fully understand how frustrating it can be to manually reset devices when the Android app loses connection, and your feedback has been prioritized for our engineering team’s review.
As the core tool for Deco management, Deco App is actively updated and constantly optimized, and I'm sure the overall App performance will be greatly improved in future updates.

Thanks again for your understanding and support.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Thank you for your answer but you (i.e. TP-LINK) need to understand that the Deco Android app either MUST NOT forget/lose already configured devices (if for some reason the connection is unsuccessful, e.g. VPN etc etc) or it SHOULD BE ABLE to re-detect and re-connect to existing, configured devices.

It is very simple really.

Fix the Deco Android app.
