Model: RE305   RE190
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

Hello,

I’m having a problem connecting my TP-Link range extenders to my Starlink Wi-Fi and I can’t figure out what is wrong.

I have a standard Starlink Gen 4 setup and I’m trying to extend my Wi-Fi using a TP-Link range extender (RE190 model). I also tried another one (RE305 model) from a friend, but I get the same issue with both.

I installed the TP-Link app and followed the setup process to connect it to my Starlink network. I also searched online and tried splitting the Starlink Wi-Fi into separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks to make the setup easier.

The extender appears to connect to the Starlink network during setup, but once it’s done, none of the Wi-Fi signal lights (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) turn on. Only the power light is on.

When I connect to the TP-Link network created by the extender, there is no internet access at all.

I have tried resetting both extenders and repeating the setup multiple times, but the result is always the same:

Power light is on

No 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz signal lights

No internet access through the extender network

I’m starting to wonder if there is some kind of compatibility issue between Starlink and TP-Link extenders, or if Starlink is blocking the connection in some way.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I’ve been trying to fix this for quite a long time.

Thank you so much !👍🏻

Hello @Vanderkelena ,

Welcome to our community.

Have you tried the other two methods to set up the extenders? Before that, please reset the extenders as follows: With the power on, use a pin to press the reset button/hole for 1 second.

Then, configure the extender via:

If other methods don't help, you can try the following steps:

1. Place the extender closer to the router
During and after setup, position the extender only 2–3 meters away from the Starlink router. Wait about 2 minutes after setup completes and check if the signal/2.4G/5G LEDs come on.

2. Verify your Starlink Wi-Fi password
On your phone, forget the Starlink Wi-Fi network, reconnect manually, and carefully re-enter the password. This confirms the password used during extender setup is correct. (Guide: How to remove existing wireless network profile on Android&iPhone)

3. Check for MAC filtering or Access Control on your Starlink router
If Starlink's app or settings have any MAC filtering, whitelist, or access control features enabled, try disabling them, as these can block the extender from connecting.

4. Upgrade the extender's firmware
Outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues. Update to the latest version using this guide: How to Update Your TP-Link Extender Firmware: Three Methods

5. Optimize your Starlink router's Wi-Fi channel settings (if adjustable)
If your Starlink Gen 4 allows manual channel selection, set 2.4GHz to channels 1, 6, or 11, and 5GHz to channels 36–48 to reduce interference.
