Hi all,

I recently purchased the OC200 and ER605 units in order to replace our old ER5120 and found that I cannot stage the ER605 properly because there is no option to set up DHCP reservation before the device is physically connected to the network.

This has never been an issue with any other router I have ever used, as they all have the option to set up DHCP reservation so long as you have the MAC address to input manually.  There is no option to do this on the Omada Cloud and I'm sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out ... why?  We have 6 office computers, 1 networked printer, but we have 25 VMs that need to be set up for static addresses and I would rather not do it on the devices directly for obvious reasons.

So I guess my questions are why in the world is this not an option?

And is there any workaround to this other than taking my network down while manually connecting each device and configuring it via the Cloud interface after it shows up on the network?

I would really like to avoid the downtime if at all possible.  And am still really confused as to why this isn't an available option when the router itself says it can be done in the manual.

I saw other people also have this problem elsewhere in this community.

The controller doesn't support DHCP reservation via MAC address, but it is supported in standalone. I guess on controller it will be supported in next version.

So the workaround is to manage the router in standalone mode, and wait for next version update.

Thanks for the reply. Does that mean it is safe to make changes to the ER605 directly, or are you suggesting the removal of the OC200 and the Cloud from the equation? My understanding is that once the hardware controller is being used, it was not a good idea to make changes to the devices directly else it would cause conflicts. Is that not the case?

@dfuebermann1 I think he's saying to stop managing the router with the OC200 (have the OC200 forget the ER605) and manage the ER605 as a stand-alone device until the OC200 has the capability you want.  Then you can adopt the ER-605 again.  The rest of your devices can continue to be managed with the OC200 until that happens.  It's either that, or live with the issue until it's fixed on the OC200.
