Background:

This post provides a configuration guide to set up Remote Management so that you can access your router's admin web by the public IP address. Or via SSH to log in your router.

This Article Applies to:

All routers with Remote Management function.

Application Scenario:

Configuration Steps:

1. Log in your router by 192.168.0.1. If you have changed the default gateway, please enter the IP address of the gateway accordingly.

2. Go to System Tools > Admin Setup > Remote Management > Add

3. Input the Subnet/Mask, if you are not accessing it from the static IP address, you should set it to 0.0.0.0/0

If you know what you are doing and your IP address, input your subnet accordingly. Click OK.

Verification:

Go to the Status > System Status > WAN IPv4, and copy the IP Address. Then you can use this public IP address to access your router while you are not at the site.

(The picture is only showing a demo. IP address here is not a public one.)

Note:

If you are interested in SSH into the router via its public IP address, please do as following:

1. Check if your model supports CLI mode.

2. Enable Remote Assistance in the System Tools > Diagnostics > Remote Assistance.

After that, port 22 will be open and accessible from your public IP.

If you tend to limit access from some dangerous IP address, you may set up the ACL in the router to prevent unwanted access.

This will block the access to the router via SSH. The Source might be different in your case.
