Hi...

I am designing network configuration with Omada Controller (OC200), two Omada Switches and one Router.

Switch #1 will be connected to four EAP and some other devices while Switch #2 will be connected to IP cameras and NVR. Both switches are connected through router.

The objective is to combine both switches with router and managed by Omada Controller whether using single subnet or different subnet (VLAN).

Questions:

1. Which is best configuration to combine two switches and router?

     - Option 1: two switches are connected to router and create two different VLANs

     - Option 2: two switches are connected using two LAG and one of switches is connected to Omada Controller and Router.

2. If we choose option 1, is Omada Controller be able to manage Switch #2? assuming there will be different subnet.

3. What are pros and cons for both options?

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

Hi @reki

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

1. SG2428P should be the core switch as it has more SFP ports and can give you more flexibility.

2. Option 1 and 2 are pretty much the same. LAG would only be useful/effective if you look forward to a LAN speed increase.

3. How to configure Management VLAN in Omada SDN Controller (4.4.4 or above)

Try this way. Use the Discovery Utility and Management VLAN to place it in a different subnet.

To make it work in a different VLAN, figure out if it is 802.3 VLAN which is used for isolation or it is VLAN interface. Discovery Tool can be used in the second case.
