Firmware Version:

Hello - curious if any one else has seen this problem and any ideas how to resolve.

The desired behavior:  When the switch boots up, the switch should receive a reserved dhcp address from the dhcp server running on our gateway.  This configuration works without issue for many other devices on the network including the EAP650 access point.

The problem:  SG2218 is assigned a random dhcp pool address even though a reserved dhcp address is configured to the switch's mac address.  The dhcp server is a netgate 6100 gateway router.  The router dhcp server is configured to assign x.x.x.2 address to the switch as a reservered dhcp address.  The dhcp dynamic pool addresses are x.x.x.100 to x.x.x.150 and there is no conflict with dynamic and reserved addresses in the dhcp server.  This is the only device on our network to exhibit this behavior.  When the switch boots up, it configures with a dynamic pool address -- like x.x.x.103, and apparently ignores the reserved address.

What we've tried:  It seems the only way to reliably assign a specific address to the switch is to statically assign the address at the switch using the switch web interface (no sdn controller on the network).  We've created a reserved dhcp address tied to the switch's mac address several times and re-verified the ip and mac addresses several times.  We did find that when also creating a static arp entry binding the reserved dhcp address to the switch mac address, in that particular configuration a dynamic pool address is not assigned to the switch, however -- the switch is still not reachable via the reserved address (x.x.x.2).

Hi @kdrco

If you have configured it on the DHCP server and it still gets a random IP from the pool, consider a failure in your DHCP server.

The switch gets what the DHCP server answers.
