Wake On Lan stops working after PC has shutdown for a given amount of minutes
Router: ER605 v2, firmware: 2.3.3
Switch SG2210MP V5, firmware: 5.0.12
Hardware Controller OC220, firmware: 1.2.11 Build 20251128 Rel.52802 (Stable)
I have upgraded my omada setup with the SG2210MP switch. I have setup Wake-On-Lan settings on 2 computers, one windows PC (my main PC) and one with Proxmox installed running containers. The Wake-On-Lan is setup to wake my main PC and my Proxmox node, not any containers. Both computers are connected on the SG2210MP switch and haev VLANs setup with ACL rules setup.
Configuration for Wake-On-Lan is the following:
- IP-MAC Binding is setup for both computers
- DHCP Reservation for bot computers
- Port Forwarding for both devices on their specific IPs with ports 7 and 9 respectively
Before buying the switch and connected the computers, both were connected on the router and with the same configuration on standlone mode everything worked correctly.
Now that the setup involves the controller and the switch, I am expreriencing the following issue:
When one of these computers is shut down, if I immediately try to wake them, it works. HOWEVER, after some time passes after I shut them down, it does not work.
The same exact issue is happening on both computers, one windows, one debian witrh proxmox and bot are configured correctly for wake-on-lan.
I have read that some switches put ports on deep sleep after a while after the device has shut down, is that true? If so, I have not found anything specific on the omada controller UI regarding this feature.
Any solution will be much appreciated.
Thanks for reading.
