I have the same kind of problems here with

Firmware Version:0.9.1 0.8 v002e.0 Build 150526 Rel.63088n

Hardware Version:Archer D5 v1 00000000

And I've understood that is something that has to do with my chromecast and when I use to stream from NetFlix app on android for sure.

After that I use it, the router hang up and wifi on 5Ghz dies, it remains the SSID on 2,4Ghz but it doesn't work and the device doesn't answer even on the LAN.

Tp link support in Italy didn't answer me with a beta firmware, they say that's because of the saturation created by the Chromecast. But it seems me a bug..

Dear,

i have made several tests and it seems that the only way to make the router work without freezing is to desactivate 5g with a specific saving.
the following tests have being made.
5g with ac/n active and 2.4g b/g/n active => KO
5g with ac only active and 2.4g b/g/n active => KO
5g with ac/n desactivated and 2.4g b/g/n active => KO
5g with ac only desactivated and 2.4g b/g/n active => OK

the 5g desactivation isn't enough it seems that you need to seperat it entirly from the n wifi mode

my router hasn't freeze even once on these latest 5days, however that only mean that i have bought an expensive N wifi router ! TP-link sucks

This is what they answered me:

Gentile Cliente,

English: the problem is caused by recent updates on clients (I guess android devices but maybe also win10 laptops) to fix the KRACK issue. We're working on a firmware to solve the problem, but it'll be some weeks until it passes the necessary tests. In the meantime, please keep the 5ghz network disabled.

It's official, it's a bug generated by the Chromecast

https://9to5google.com/2018/01/15/google-chromecast-home-wifi-outage/

So far probably we have only to wait for a firmware update from Google and maybe patch from modem vendors I think.

I'm starting to think that issue comes from Android 8.1. It's happening since i updated my Nexus 6p to it.
Indeed also some netgear devices seem affected: https :// community.netgear.com/t5/Orbi/Android-8-Crashes-Orbi/m-p/1452347/highlight/true

I've been working with Tech Support. They say they tracked the issue to an Android OS update in the area of cast controls. They provided me with a beta firmware which they say fixes the issue for my Archer C1200 and they are planning to release an official update soon. I recommend people still having issues contact Tech Support and ask for the beta firmware. This is the link they gave me but I'm not sure if it's the same for other routers: http://support.tp-link.com/f/115bd6f0b9/?dl=1

I will report if I still have the issue.

Thanks

Awesome, great to see people communicating to work this thing out. I also have an Archer D7 with the same problem, and also had a bit of an idea that it could be my Google Pixel (and now my Pixel 2 XL) causing it as it would almost always happen as soon as I check my phone after a long interval of inactivity (e.g. when I wake up). I run a mining rig at home so I'm able to track exactly when the router "freezes". I was so close to replacing it with another modem router until I came across this, so thank you everyone. I will disable 5Ghz for now and I hope it won't happen as often. Hopefully both Google and TP Link will release updates soon.

Curious; I've had my Chromecast for over a year now but this problem only started happening recently.

Google is rolling up update that fix this issue

https://support.google.com/googlehome/answer/7634752?hl=en&ref_topic=7071995

And infact the problem was not only for Chromecast, yesterday on my D5 it happened even with only the android device using Netflix and when the Chromecast was turned off. The question is only to understand when it will delivered on your android device.
