Cannot get Archer VR2600 to work with laptop!

I have recently bought the VR2600 modem router in the hope to improve the reach in my flat and to be able to have a separate guest network. Unfortunately it is not a simple plug and connect affair. I have managed to get the router to work with both with my iPhone and iPad via WiFi. However, it is a completely different story with my Lenovo laptop. In fact I tried it with two different Lenovo ThinkPad laptops. Even my IT provider for work spent 1 1/2 hours trying to connect to the internet. Does this router only work with Apple products? I have managed to connect to the router but no further. Any suggestions are greatly welcomed as I am ready to just return this router to Amazon. My simple Plusnet router works without any problems as opposed to this higher spec TP-LINK router!

I have never heard sometime the same as yours. That sounds interesting! Could you please show us the error message when you try to connect a Thinkpad to a TPLink router?
Windows laptops will show error message if it can not connect to the network.
And you could call TPLink support. If you have another way to connect the laptop to the internet, like a Ethernet cable adapter or another USB Adapter, the support guys can check this problem remotely.

Thank you for your suggestion. Neither wifi nor ethernet worked. There are no error messages as the router connects to the Internet but the laptops don't get through. An IT specialist has looked looked at the one laptop remotely as I was able to tether the laptop to my iPhone. Sadly TP Link support did not show any interest in helping. Simply because the router seems to be working. This is a ti something I saw on Amazon.co.uk reviews and now I experience it myself. I guess I just return it. .

Hi Goldbach,
Welcome to the forum , unfortunately TP Link do not really have any support directly on the forum , it is all user based.
I have the VR900 a similar piece of kit and the GUI interface is nearly identical , I will try to help but you have given very limited info
to go on.
If I understand correctly you have a couple of Apple products that link fine and have access to the Internet , however the Lenovo Laptop refuses
to connect properly and give Internet access .
Have you tried connecting the Lenovo to a friends Wifi , does it connect ok ?
Try turning off your Firewall and Anti Virus on the Lenovo or " Boot in safe mode with Networking " and see if you can ping " www.google.co.uk "
Off the top of my head I'd go for an issue on the Lenovo , if the router connects to your broadband and you get Internet access on some devices
I cannot see it being a router issue especially if you say Lenovo won't connect on LAN either as LAN has no real security to get through and in
a home doesn't need any , unless someone sneaks into your house and plugs into your router without you noticing !!
Is the Lenovo connecting on the [COLOR=#ff0000]Wireless or LAN correctly , does Windows bring up the Connect to a Network box ( If not check IP address )
asking you to choose HOME / WORK / CAFE or on Win 10 give you the choice to allow other users on the Network see you ?
Look into wireless settings and properties of the wifi connection and see if it is getting an IP address in the correct range like
192.168.0 or 1.2 to 254 and not the dreaded 169.x.x.x , is the DHCP set to auto on Lenovo or fixed ? , look into apple
devices and see if IP on them is in the same range as IP on Lenovo for a clue.
I have never come across an issue where the router blanks you after a proper connection is made to it , either the connection is
not configured correctly or the Lenovo is playing games with you . The only way I can think is to use MAC address blocking in router ?
Have you tried a full reset on router and then try connecting Lenovo before you try any settings changes , are you trying to connect on the Guest
wifi or your private network ? How sure are you that the settings you have changed are not causing issues.
If you are damn sure the Lenovo is not the issue try the Router full reset button inc power off for 10 mins , turn wifi OFF on all other devices,
REMOVE ALL wifi connections for this router from the Lenovo and do a reboot with wifi off , wait till it has fully booted and turn wifi On and use it to do the ADSL/VDSL
setup if you can using the std SSID's and wifi passkey on bottom of router , change only what is needed to get an Internet connection on Lenovo .
Then try changing SSID's and Passkeys and see if connection is OK . If good move on and try your Apple devices , if not tell me where it fails or gives errors , screen shots
( print screen / prt sc button and paste into Paint so you can post it here ) would be easiest but good ol pen / paper and write down any errors is ok.
Hope that some of the above may help ,
I have 6 Laptops ( HP / DELL / ASUS ) , 4 Mobiles ( Meizu / Sony / Samsung ) , 2 NAS devices , Networked Canon Printer , You View Box / X Box / Smart TV , Workstation Desktop XW8400 some on LAN some only Wifi ( also 2 x TP Link AP500 access points and 3 x Gigabit switches ) and have many friends around who all want Wifi access on Tablets and Mobiles and NEVER have I come across this sort of issue unless user induced on the router , though still for the life of me I can't see how you could configure the router to ignore the
Lenovo unless you specifically blocked it in settings.

Ok. thanks for the suggestions. I have tried to reset the router but it still did not work. I have decided to return it as I am finding wasting my time with this router and will revert back to my plain vanilla Plusnet Hub which seems to work just fine.
