PPTP Issue With TD-W9970

PPTP Issue With TD-W9970

We have recently installed a TD-W9970 v1 00000001 with latest firmware 0.9.1 2.11 v0025.0 Build 170726 Rel.65343n.
We have setup a forward for PPTP 1723 and forwarded to internal PPTP server.
We have also set a firewall rule to allow 1723.
But PPTP will not work unless we disable the firewall or set the firewall to Allow all packets (we do not want to do either).
We have PPTP set to enabled also under the ALG settings page.
I think the issue is to do with the firewall not passing the GRE protocol and hope to find a solution.
I am aware that PPTP is a very old and rather insecure VPN but we have no choice but to run it.
Any help would be fantastic.
