Hi

Please can anyone advise? I'll explain.

I originally had an AV600 Powerline kit UK ver:1.20 containing 1 x TL-PA4020P and 1 x TL-WPA4220 and a single AV600 Powerline UK ver:1.20 TL--WPA4220 purchased separately.
The setup was:

TL-PA4020P connected to the modem/ router
TL-WPA4220 - in a ground floor living room
TL-WPA4220 - in a first floor bedroom

I used these with the wireless function disabled and the ethernet function seemed to work well although looking at the Powerline Utility the transmission speed of the Powerline in the first floor bedroom was around 115Mbps compared to the ground floor Powerline at 135Mbps. The ground floor socket is on a different circuit/fuse to the socket in the first floor bedroom so I did expect a slightly lower speed. All the circuits in the house do return to one mains electrical distribution board.

I recently upgraded our modem router to the Archer VR2800 and because it has 10/100/1000Mbps ethernet ports I thought I would upgrade my Powerline adapters so I purchased the AV2000 Starter kit containing 2 x TL-PA9020P.

So now my setup is:

TL-PA9020P connected to the modem/ router
TL-WPA4220 - in a ground floor living room
TL-PA9020P - in a first floor bedroom

I've noticed that sometimes the Powerline light on the TL-PA9020P can be red. I see in the instructions this can indicate the network is in poor condition. I've attached screenshots from the TP PLC Utility showing the connection and transmission speeds. You'll see that the speed from the TL-WPA4220 in the ground floor living room (TV Room) to the TL-PA9020P in the first floor bedroom (Luca) is particularly slow at 38Mbps. Transmission in the other direction is better at 131Mbps.

I have two questions.

When there are a mixture of Powerline adapters capable of different transmission speeds will the whole network run at the slowest speed? So in my case will the Powerline network be limited to the slower speed of the TL-WPA4220 or will data transmission between the two TL-PA9020P Powerlines be at a faster speed and transmission between a TL-PA9020P and the TL-WPA4220 slower?
[*]Would replacing the TL-WPA4220 in the ground floor living room with another TL-PA9020P improve the transmission speed and make the Powerline light turn permanently from red to green?

I have already checked the firmware version of all the adapters and have updated to the latest firmware 3.2.4_902111_170628_901 on the two TL-PA9020. I'm a little confused by the TL-WPA4220 Powerline as the packaging and label on the Powerline state it is version UK 1.20 but in the web interface the Hardware Version is listed as WPA4220 v1 08C84015. Looking at the TP Link support pages it would appear I have the latest firmware for v1, 1.29 Build 160525 Rel.35241n.

Thanks for any help and advice.

1 data transmission between the two TL-PA9020P Powerlines be at a faster speed and transmission between a TL-PA9020P and the TL-WPA4220 is slower.
