This use to happen intermittently, but now its happening 100% of the time.
My connectivity to internet is fine, via a wired ADSL connection to my desktop- I then turn on my cell phone (iphone 6) wifi....and the connectivity to both my desktop and cell wifi drops immediately. It happens with anyone else also coming into range of the router with their cell wifi turned on.
I have tried using both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands...it makes no difference.
What am i missing?

You mean the phone's cell wifi will affect the router's wifi connectivity?
Update the FW to the latest one firstly.
How about if you set a fixed wireless channel?

I am tech clueless! So what does it mean to update the FW?
And how do I set a fixed channel?

Yes, the cell phone wifi affects the routers wifi connectivity.
Being tech clueless- iIam unsure how to update the FW (what is that?)
Or setting a fixed channel, how do i do that...?

Login to the web UI of D50 to check whether the currnet firmware is the latest one on tp-link official website.
If it's not, download the latest firmware and update it.
How to update and you can refer to the below link:

After you login to the web UI, go to Wireless Setting part.
And you may find out channel, try to select a fixed number.
