I bought a new TP Link AC1600 VR600 modem/router yesterday. I use NordVPN and I wanted to install/activate it on the device.

NordVPN told me that the device cant be flashed and they no longer support the protocols on the device, due to security concerns.

What now? Did I just spend lots of money on something that is not really that secure?

The NordVPN is a thrid-party VPN service provider and they has their priviate VPN protocol for VPN connection. TP-LINK does not know the detail VPN protocol used by service provider such as NordVPN or other provider. So you can of course not install/activate a private VPN on TP-LINK routers.   Besides, The VPN on TP-LINK's routers are all based on universal VPN protocol which is being common used all over the world.
