Hi,

I just purchased AC5400X and I am using 800Mbps from my ISP. I tested the speed through Ookla Speedtest and consistently getting 800Mbps for 1st time. However after few hours, the Speedtest dropped by 50% to 400 Mbps and I have to restart the C5400X router in order to get back 800Mbps from Speedtest.

May I know why is this happening and any solution to maintain the internet speed in long term?

Thanks

Hello all, apologies for the super late reply.

It is suggested to update the Archer C5400X to the latest firmware released on the local website, which should fix this speed issue you reported.

While if it still persists and we want to try the beta first, here it is:

https://static.tp-link.com/2019/201912/20191206/ArcherC5400x-up-ver1-1-4-P1[20190629-rel24006]_sign_2019-06-29_18.47.02.zip

Note: There is guidance in the download folder and you may refer to it to update the firmware.

Do let the community know if the issue is fixed or not, thanks a lot~

Same issue with C5400

I am having this same issue with my C5400. Has been great for a year and now it cuts the internet speeds in half. I have 400 mpbs through my service provider and when connected directly to the modem I get 400-450 down. As soon as I go through the router, within minutes the speed is reduced by half..

Same issue with my C5400 V2, latest firmware. Cannot get the full speed, but half. Can anyone give me some advice? Or should I never buy a tplink router?

I have a C4000 and am having the same problem. Power-cycling the router gets me back to ~850 - 950 Mbps, which is what I would expect from my ISP. A couple hours afterward, however, I'm back down to 400 - 500 Mbps. Very strange.

AC5400X Same issue as Milobar over 900mb for an hour or two then bandwidth drops over time i have seen it all the way down to 100mb or less. Rebooting router fixes speed for a wile but only a while. It looks like the firmware has a memory leak or some other problem.

The problem seems to be associated with the wifi settings. With the wifi radios off the router does not seem to slow down. Had to reboot once wifi was shut off to get speed back. They need to fix the firmware. In the meantime I will have to do more experiments.

Follows the response that tplink support gave me

Diogeles

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding this issue.  I want to let you know we are actively working on a solution.  We do know what is causing the problem and we are currently engaged with TrendMicro on getting a solution.  In the interim there are 2 possible fixes for you

1.  Set a static channel for each wireless band, instead of using Auto.  And set the Channel Width to the highest setting 40MHz for 2.4GHz and 80MHz for 5GHz

2.  We can provide a firmware that disables the HomeCare Module of your router.  This will restore full speed on Wireless and Ethernet connection, however it will cause you not to be able to use the AV, Parental Controls or QOS features until a fix has been developed.

Also can you please provide a link to the thread where you located the beta firmware.  I would like to add an update on the thread.

Best Regards

Carl

After these settings it seems like everything is back to normal and I get my full speed. As soon as the Firmware is sent here

Dear TP Link Tech dept,

Any update on this terrible technical issue ? Its been 10 months past since the 1st post in this topic and there still no new firmware to resolve it ?  The temporary solution is not working at all ! The suggestions in wireless settings are simply like seeing your family doctor for flu, but received no prescriptions and expected self-healing

Thanks
