Hi to all,
I have bought yesterday a TD-8616 adsl modem. I connected this to my Mikrotik routerboard (433AH). If i use my current cable which is length is about 4-5 meters then I can hardly ping the modem through the routed (78% lost ping) (so not be able at all to perform a pppoe call). With a shorter lan cable everything is working fine! Why is this happening?
My best Regards
Kostas

Hi, have you tired other 5-meter cable?
you can connect the computer directly to the modem with the 5-meter cable, and set up a PPPoE broadband connection on your computer and see if it is working.

Hi again,
I will try your options. However, I have to tell you that right now I am using another modem (by Siemens) and has not any problems to connect with this cable. I tried also another configuration: I connected the adsl modem (TD-8616) into a switch and then the 5 meters cable (from router) into another port of the same switch and everything worked ok. Is this helping you?

What to you mean Well Done? This is not something I want to do but it was just a check. My problem of lan connectivity still remains with "long" cable from TD 8616 to Mikrotik routerboard.

Maybe Sharon thought your problem was solved as you described.
Anyway, let it go!By the way, did you try joice's suggestion? As joice mentioned, you'd better try a different better-quality network cable and set up a PPPOE connection on your PC.
