Region : Sweden
Model : TD-W8968
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 0.6.0_1.1_up(120926)
ISP : HessleholmNetwork
My TD-W8968 has begun to freeze up. It had been running for about two hours before this happened. It's a "slow" process that starts with the web interface being
unavailable, i'm unable to connect to the modems web interface.
And at about the same time it becomes impossible to connect new devices to the wireless network. Right about this point i did a speed test over the modem
and performance was abysmal.
It was so slow that my web browser believed that it was offline! But i was able to re run the internet speed test once more before it totaly locked up! At this point
it was impossible to use the TD-W8968.
This was the,, i don't know,, perhaps the fifth time it happened in a row. It has been running perfect for two months before it began acting up like this.
I have done a reset of the modem, didn't solve the problem.
I have also done a reflash of the firmware, i've had the latest firmware since i bought the TD-W8968. But the reflash didn't solve it :(
Any thoughts?

It will get my nerve if I have to reboot my modem several times a day. Do you any special application or software running like Belarc Advisor? How many devices do you have?

I run no such software Kelly. I have about 5 clients connected directly and 4 more via other routers thru out my house.
When the problem arises all clients get cut of from the intenet.

When web interface stops, how about status of all indicators? You PC is plugged into wired or wirelessly? Any difference?

I can confirm this. 2 days ago I bought a new TD-W8968. I have properly configured ADSL connection, wi-fi interface and disabled all unneeded features like usb and print server.
After that I just ran "ping -t 192.168.1.1". After some time (different each time: from several minutes to several hours) router starts to hanging and after a while isn't responding (request timeout).
I have installed new firmware (now I have 0.6.0 1.1 v0005.0 Build 120926 Rel.27100n). It's added new functions and overall better performance, but didn't solved problems with hanging.
When router hangs it's didn't response to "ping 192.168.1.1" from LAN connection (tried different ports). I thought this was due to bad network card or cable, but my netbook with wi-fi connection also didn't see network. I have connected netbook with LAN cable to another port of router, but pings are still not going through. Also I tried to switch off wi-fi with the "wi-fi button", but wi-fi LED still staying ON. The only thing I could do is turn off and then on router. After this he's lost system time, but servers I added stayed.

Okay, I've managed to identify problem. When I open uTorrent with 30-50 global connections, then after a while router freezes and then didn't even respond to pings. Now I try to determine is this problem because of connections or network load (I have 3 Mbit/s connection). I've changed global connections to 5. Let's see what will be next.

Tp-link W8968 Freezes
2013-01-11 01:04:11
Hi, I'm having the same problem my tp-link freezes several times a day and only a hard reset will get it working again. I have no idea how to fix it, I have contacted tp-link support and they say to make sure I have all the right ADSL configuration parameter. Not really been helpful since it is the first thing I did. Not sure whether it is buggy firmware or a hardware problem.

TD-W8968 hangs up
2013-02-28 18:19:40
Hi everyone, I have the same problem: the router hangs everyday when all computer are switched off. When I come back home, I am not able to ping its ip address (192.168.1.1) and the only way to solve the problem is to reboot the device.
The device is runniong the last firmware available on TP-Link site.
Any suggestion?

it's seems a firmware bug
2013-03-13 21:43:50
I've downgraded to 120802 and already downloaded 2-3GB torrents.
And since then no disconnections either.
Ping statistics for x.x.x.x:
Packets: Sent = 12589, Received = 12587, Lost = 2 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 4ms, Maximum = 143ms, Average = 11ms
And since then no disconnections either.
