Dear all,
I have just bought this new device, installed, DSL is working fine but not the USB printer sharing. Allways tells me: "This system was not supported yet." Here is the message box:
I have a HP DeskJet 1050 and a Canon Pixma MP150 machine. I know, the HP is not in the supported printer list, indeed Canon is.
So, what can I do?
Thanx in advance!
Greetings from Tuscany,
Stefano

Hello,
I have a Samsung ML-2010 laser printer. In windows Vista I'm able to print via the rear usb port of td-w8968 using the TD-W8968_V1_USB Printer Controller Utility. Unfortunately using a pc running Ubuntu Linux ( in a mixed home network) the printer is not detected using Samba sharing service. This is strange cause I suppose the router's firmware should be linux based too. With my previous router ( Alice gate 2 plus ) printing in linux was ok. Any suggestion ? Thanks in advance.

I agree with you. But I'm sure it is just a configuration issue about the Samba server embedded in the router. Infact I got access to the router via telnet and I found a "smb.conf" file. The problem is I don't know at this time how to modify to enable the printer detection. I have to study to find a solution. Howewer I posted the problem to TP-Link support and i hope in a Solution.
Regards.

This is the smb.conf in the router's firmware:
Now, I'm a bit green in linux programming but... it seems to me that the "printers" section in smb.conf is missing. Perhaps the Printer controller utilily in Windows and Mac create a vitual device as a workoround. Please, Is there anyone from TP-link so kind to help me ?
[global]
workgroup = WORKGROUP
netbios name = ADSL router
server string = Samba Server
security = share
max connections = 6
max smbd processes = 6
deadtime = 1
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
unix charset = UTF8
display charset = UTF8
bind interfaces only = yes
stat cache = no
interfaces = 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0

Uhm, looking at active modules in the router's firmware, it seems that "usbip" module is not loaded (modprobe usbip). Nevertheless in the open source files provided by TP-LINK the usbip i present for compiling. Hey Tp-link: did you forget something ? :D

I am using Linux Mint 12 and experiencing the same issue.
I have reported this issue through Technical Support email.
Has anyone else actually reported this issue to Technical Support?

I'm using Linux Mint 13 Maya but tryed Ubuntu 12.10 also. No success.
I reported too the problem to tech support one month ago: no reply. Now I hope in some "open source" solution !
