Archer C7 stopped working, won't power on, defect? Can it be repaired?

Archer C7 V2 suddenly stopped working after we cut off the main power and plugging it in to a different socket (same group), it just won't power on anymore.

I contacted the dutch Tp-Link support and they just said; It must be a current/voltage spike what broke the router, NO WARANTY!

That only happens when you don't switch off all the groups before you cut off the main power and turn it on again, or when a whole block get's cut off on power, and then when it get's turned back on. Or during a thunderstorm when something gets hit by lightning. A spike could appear right? Or even worse...

I hope they re evaluate the situation before just saying; No Warranty, can't help you.

What I also would like to know is;

Is it defective / dead? So, what got broken? The adapter still works :/

And.

Can it be repaired? What component?

And.why NO WARRANTY? Just by assuming it's a spike?

Please help!

Abel

Hi Abel, I think it is the instantaneous current breakdown the equipment power module. I think maybe your plug is not safe? Maybe you have to check it out? Also all lights down?

Hi Philipe,

Tnx for your reply.

Yess all the lights are down.

Do you mean the wall plug/socket? Or the one on the machine, because I was also wondering if it could be the plug/socket on the machine.

I don't think or I actually know there is nothing wrong with the wall socket.

I actually know a lot about building/house/utility electronics due to previous jobs + I'm a repair enthusiast.

Inside I just can't find any broken components or marks. Since I opened it I think the warranty has gone for sure...

I did find a close neighbour who had the same problem with their Ziggo C7, a rebranded and adjusted Archer C7 by an internet provider (Ziggo). So it seems I'm not the only one.

Maybe I'll try to replace the plug/socket on the machine since I already opened it, and now that I have 2 broken machines (1 from a neighbour). I might as well give it a try.

I just need to order or find a replacement socket.

I hope to have an update soon.

Any tips/advice is welcome.
