adsl2 modem issues

Hi all and TIA if anyone can help me with this issue I'm seeing.
I've just setup my ADSL2+ td-8616 modem and it appears to work fine after powerup
What I do notice is that after xx amount of time It appears to throttle down in speed.
ie I do a d/l test after connecting and get 550kbs after a day or so its down to 100kbs and recycle of power brings it back to 500kbs but a day later its slow again.
not sure if the telco is doing something on there end or I have a wrong setting ?
