Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 3.15.3 Build 180114 Rel.39265n

My Archer c7 v2 (CA) router has the wrong region firmware installed.

It currently has version 3.15.3 Build 180114 Rel.39265n installed which I believe is the US version.

Everything is working ok but I want to fix this and upgrade to the latest CA firmware (Archer C7(CA)_V2_180305)

When I try, I get this error:

Error code: 18005

Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.

The bottom of my router says Model: Archer C7(CA). How do I get the correct region firmware to install?

@VanTS  @Justfrancis

Hello all,

To whom may have an issue flashing the latest firmware published on the local CA website for the model Archer C7(CA)_V2, it is suggested to refer to the below firmware recovery instructions to flash the correct firmware:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/stories/detail/582

However, for others who own an Archer C7(EU)_V2, it is not suggested to use this TPTF recovery to flash your device, as it would ruin it and will be against the warranty.

Best regards.

Hi,

Could you please tell me which country did you buy the Archer C7,V2?

Did you upgrade any other firmware before or the current firmware is original one installed on the router?

If you are from CA and router was bought from CA, there should be no problem to upgrade the firmware. Please make sure the firmware file was unzipped/decompressed when you upload the bin file.

If you bought the router in US, you need to download firmware from US official website other than CA website.

US website: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/archer-c7/v2/#Firmware

Good day!

it was bought in Canada. the firmware has definitely been upgraded since then. maybe the wrong US version was installed by mistake? either way, i'd like to install the proper CA version but it wont let me, which is bizarre.

I didn't know there are different firmwares for different regions.

I have a C9 bought in the US but I live in LATAM, the firmware updated to the latest US version but I see the latest LATAM version is different.

What should I do? Keep the US version?

Hi, Bradmoss,

FYI, the firmware need match the purchase location of your C9, so you can keep the US version. Update to LATAM version may ruin the device and will be against the warranty.

Besides, the reason why iblastoff can update the CA firmware is that the original version is CA.

May it help. Good day.

Hi Busta,

Please provide more information so that we can give you a specific answer.

1. The current firmware and its country version.

2. The original firmware and its country version which is printed on the bottom label.

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day.

I also have a archer c7 v2 bought in Canada with 3.15.3 Build 180114 Rel.39265n that I can't appear to update with latest canadian firmware (180305) as I get "

Error code: 18005
Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.

Not sure why it's rolling with US firmware (bought on amazon.ca)

Any particular reason you're only pm'ing instructions instead of just posting the solution? (just avoiding bricks?)
Can you help me?
