Hi Team,

Good day.

Just wanted to ask if how many devices can cater MU-MIMO enabled router simulteneously and was it applicable on 2.4GHz band?

Thanks in advance!

MU-MIMO only works in the 5 GHz band and with the 802.11ac wireless standard...

Hi,

For your information, only 5GHz supports MU-MIMO, which is short for Multiple User – Multiple Input Multiple Output, one of the most important feature of 802.11ac Wave 2.

WHat do you mean by asking how many devices can cater MU-MIMO enabled router simulteneously ? How many devices can connect to the router at the same time?

Good day.

Yes sir, what I mean is how many devices can connect to the router at same time.

It varies with different models/routers.

What is the model number of your TP-Link router? Or is there any product that you are interested in?

Good day.

The 802.11ac Wave 2 standard limits itself to communicating with a maximum of four clients at a time, using up to a total of eight spatial streams (for all clients) or a maximum of four spatial streams per client in a MU-MIMO transmission. So an access point can transmit to two clients with one spatial stream each (1+1), or four spatial streams to each (4+4), or four clients each with two spatial streams (2+2+2+2), or some irregular combination (such as 1+2+3 or 2+3+3).

BTW, what happened with wave 2 previously advertised for some routers (e.g. Archer C2300, Archer C3150v2)? The wave 2 sticker dissapeared even from the box. there seems to be no 80-80 or 160mhz width... New firmware needed maybe?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Back to your case, please do not worry, we use the chip which supports 802.11ac wave2. While the firmware to support 160MHz has not released yet that is why you can not see it now.

You can keep an eye on our official website for firmware updates, or you can contact us.

May it help and have a nice day.

Hi,

Any news on the firmware enabling true wave 2 for C3150v2?
I kept my good eye on the official website but nothing so far. We'd like to see 160mhz channels with the help of a new firmware, but it seems the firmware page froze back in December 2017.
Hope a new firmware will bring the features promised and also fix the 50% speed and other bugs mentioned (not only) on this forum.

Thanks

@Kevin_Z any news on when (ETA) we can see what TP-Link promised and we couldn't yet see? I'm still keeping an eye (the good one) on the official website, but nothing so far - C3150 v2 seems to be discontinued. We can only see it on the box, good thing we kept it. Also, contacting tech support via email led to nothing, yet.

May it help speed up the release of the bug free improved firmware. Have a nice day.
