Model: TL-WR940N
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 3.18.1 Build 180514 Rel.65124n

Hi,

I am using TL-WR940N router and have recently upgraded my broadband speed to 250Mbps. But when I had run the speed test , the maximum speed achieved is 90Mbps. When I raised the complaint with ISP, their technician visited and told that my router doesn't have the option to choose between 2.4GHz and 5 GHz, and may be my router is  supporting only 100Mbps. Can anyone support, to identify the issue and resolve?

Thanks

Sreeji

The technician is correct. If you are using wifi, those rated speeds are speeds that are in 100% perfect condition. This never happens in the real world. However 5ghz will give you above 250mbits provided your router AND wireless device in your computer supports 801.11AC at the bare minimum.

For instance the C1200 Router and T6E both supports 801.11AC and will give you above 500mbits at any given time (provided the signal is good enough over 5ghz).

Hi,

The TL-WR940N is a single band router, which supports 2.4GHz only.

And it has the 100Mbps LAN ports, in other word, the speed you get from the router won't be higher than 100Mbps.

Cause the current broadband speed is 250Mbps, you can buy a gigabit dual band router with 1000Mbps LAN ports.

May it help and have a good day.
