Hello,

I have a problem with connecting to the router, which might not even be caused by the router itself.

I use the TL-WR940N router in my home network. Recently I have been unable to connect to the router from my Asus laptop that runs on Windows10. Using the usual IP address 192.168.1.1 to connect to the router I get an error message in Firefox as well as in Chrome and Edge that a connection to the server cannot be made. However, if I try to do it from my Acer tablet the connection is established and can I see all the settings of the router.

Despite this strange behavior the laptop is still somehow establishing a connection to the router because I am able to surf the Internet in Firefox as well as Chrome and Edge.

Does anyone know what could cause this behavior, and how I can correct it?

I have had issues signing on time to time on my Archer C8. Sometimes http://tplinklogin.net/ will fail where http://192.168.0.1/ will work or the other way around. Connect with tplinkwifi.net via WIFI. Use the 192.168.0.1 (some use 192.168.1.1). For WIFI, you may be able to use the TP-Link tether app. Also powering down both the router and your PC and back up may help. Also clearing one of your browser's history, cookies, and such, stopping and restarting may help.

Hi,

Except the IP address, you can login to the web interface of the domain name which is tplinkwifi.net.

If still the same, with the laptop connected to the 940N, please check its IP address and gateway as the instruction below:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/838/

Then try to use the gateway to access the web interface and you can try  to ping the gateway of the router.

Besides, you can open a New incognito window on Google chrome and try to login.

May it help and have a nice day.
