RE305 v3 Not able to connect to 5GHz host network
My host router from ISP Ziggo in Netherlands and the issue with RE305 v3 is only with connecting to the 5GHz host network on a secured mode. I changed the host router security settings between WPA2-PSK & WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK and suitably changed it RE305 extender, but no luck with RE305 getting connected on 5GHz network. Only if there was no security set in host router for the 5GHz connection, RE305 is able to connect on the 5GHz network and obviously that cannot be solution due to snooping / unsecure connection. When RE305 does the scanning it is able to find the 5Ghz netwok though. So don't suspect an issue with the 5Ghz channel settings either - it is set to 802.11 a/n/ac mixed mode on channel 48.
I had a different problem with RE305 v1 and exchanged the router with the retailer and just got a new one which was RE305 v3. In fact for 6 months had range extender setup working fine in RE305 v1, but two weeks ago it started giving the problem with no internet connection after you connect to the network on the extendeter. It's a pity that I now have a problem on day 1 with a new RE305 v3 version - does not go well with confidence on the brand
Firmware is also the latest and factory reset is also not helping. Seems to be a bug in the firmware to me (not able to deduce anything else). WPS mode also did not work fyi. Has anyone else faced the issue ?
If there is no solution to this, i might have to dump this all together and go for another brand

Hi Sir
As suggested by you, I've checked the firmware and it's latest build: 1.1.2 Build 20200212 Rel. 67183
Still i'm not able to connect my device to host Huawai 5Gz network, pls let me know in case you have any beta version that I could try out to fix the issue. Appreciate your quick response.

I faced a similar problem while connecting my RE305 V3 to Archer C6 V2 (US).. extender doesn't connect with 5GHz
So found a work around: change the Main router 5GHz channel from current 149 to 36
Though you have to do a trade-off with its Smart Connect feature - auto switchover between 2.4 & 5GHz
My Archer C6 is an US model hence recommended to have 5GHz operating on Band 4 i.e., Channel 149 onwards.. but can't give away the extender to utilise 2.4 only
Hope the RE305 gets a latest firmware addressing this issue i.e., use different channels of main router yet self broadcasting on lower channels

@Kevin_Z I bought router few days back and I am seeing random dissconnection after every few days. What I googled and came to know that we need to be in Manual channel selection mode instead of auto and in Band 1 around CH36.
I was also wondering that MY firmware looks old 1.0.1 Build 2019022 Rel. 56886. Where should I update my firmware from ?
Will it Solve the Problem ?
I have RE450 V3.0 hardware version.

Hello,
May I know the model number of your router?
You need to change a channel on your router, not the range extender.
Could you please tell me the specific issue of your product? Did your range extender also not able to connect to 5G network of your router?

Hello,
Different frequency (2.4G/5G) has different channel. For the US version, it can just use the Band 4 on 5G.
Here is a FAQ you can refer to know why the 5G recommended to have 5GHz operating on Band 4:

May it help and have a nice day!

@Solla-topee My router model number is VMDG505 (Virgin Media Hub 3.0). Please can you advise what I need to do? I am trying to repeat my router in another room, via an ethernet connection, and it is not working. The RE305 repeater works in repeater mode, but not Access mode.

Hi, for this issue, can you tell me the firmware version of the range extender?
If it is not the latest one, it is suggested to upgrade the firmware version to the latest one first.
May I know when and where you bought the extender?
Your reply would be much appreciated.
