Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.3.1 (Latest)

All devices on my wifi are having very long connection times to websites. The download speed is fine, so I can stream HD video and everything, but it is usually 10 seconds or so of "trying to connect" before a website loads. I don't have this problem with any wired connections, their connection time is less than 1 second.

I'm having this issue with mobile phones and laptops, even when only a few feet from the Deco, which is wired directly to the router. Is there a setting in the Deco that could be causing these long connection durations?

@jcoutie

Hello, thanks for your requesting. We will do some troubleshooting first and try to fix it.

1. What is the current network diagram? How do you connect these devices together?

2. Please try to ping the website you want to access when this issue happens and show us the ping result.

3. Besides, you can try to disable fast roaming, setup QoS as standard and remove all the high priority rules.

May it help and any updates, please let us know.

Have a nice day.

Hey Kevin,

The network runs in AP mode, with both devices directly wire to the router via ethernet.

I don't have the results of the ping testing right now as I'm at work, but off the top of my head it was getting fairly fast responses from my desktop computer and timing out from the laptop on wifi. I'll run it again when I get home and post them up.

I've got fast roaming disabled, and with the deco's running in AP mode, I don't think I can set QoS or any rules on them.

Thanks,

James

Hello, so the current network diagram is like modem--router-Deco x 2( AP mode) ---/)))((( desktop/laptop?

FYI, the Deco M5 does not support QoS in AP mode;

When the long connection issue happened, please click here to check the IP address and gateway of your computer with it connected to the Deco M5.

Then try to ping the gateway and the websites you want to access and show us a screenshot.

Besides, you can change the DNS server of the main router to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4; if possible, you can change the operation mode of Deco M5 to regular wireless router mode to give it a shot.

Good day.
