Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi,

Is it possible to have 2 networks at the same time on the same M5 or for the M5 to broadcast 2 SSID? The reason I asked is because I want to allocate bandwidth or have a separate qos for both networks.

Thanks.

@flipflap

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

The Deco M5 does not support multiSSID, so we cannot create up to 4SSID network, there will be two only, the 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

While the Deco M5 supports guest network, it will broadcast another wireless network once you enabled it; but they are independent from the host network in router mode.

Best regards.

Hi @flipflap, the 2.4GHz and 5GHz network use the same network name and cannot be different now; and we can create new networks on the Deco app by adding another set of Deco units, but fpr the same Deco M5, we cannot have 2 networks at the same.

While the Deco supports guest network, you can enable it if it meets your needs; besides, the QoS includes application priority and device priority only, we cannot allocate bandwidth or have a separate QoS for both networks.

Good day.

Thank you for the reply. Just to confirm, you can't create two ssid on the same deco m5?

Is there a plan to add a feature to allocate bandwidth per device or possibly per profile?

@flipflap

The 2.4GHz and 5GHz share the same network name, while you can enable guest network and create a different name for them.

Besides, the Deco M5 supports QoS instead of bandwidth control, and it supports device priority; you can add the specific device to high priority list to enable it; besides, the QoS supports application priority as well.

May it help and have a good day.

I'm not referring to 2.4 and 5 ghz network but an a different ssid. I have an old huawei wlan router where you can create up to 4 ssid network on the same wlan device. Each wlan can support 2.4 or 5ghz devices. Unfortunately the coverage is bad that's why I switched to deco m5 where coverage is great :)

Thanks for the reply. From what I gather, it's not possible to create a second ssid network.
