Hello!

Recently, I bought Archer T4U V3. I have noticed that Archer T4U V3 has issues when using 5GHz.

1. It does not detect the Xiomi Mi 9 phone 5GHz access point (2.4 GHz it detects).

2. When connecting to 5GHz network it re-plugs itself from the USB, resets the network list and connects. Sometimes, after this issue it only displays close range networks. Check out the screenshot of this issue: https://i.ibb.co/556rVxZ/Archer-T4-U-V3-issue.gif

Screenshot of the device: https://i.ibb.co/tDQsYW6/ac1300.png

I tried it on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. I think the problem is with drivers. Latest drivers: Archer T4U(US)_V3_181023_Win does not fix these issues. I need this device for my work. Thanks in advance for your help.

Do you use the Xiaomi Mi 9 Phone as the mobile hotspot and connect the computer with Archer T4U to the 5GHz of the mobile hotspot?

With the issue you mentioned happened, does it affect the actual performance of the wireless network? After you reconnect to the 5GHz network, can you get internet?

What is the operating system of your computer?

Have you ever tried to connect the T4U to a normal wireless network from a wireless router? Does it work properly?

Good day.

Hello!

Do you use the Xiaomi Mi 9 Phone as the mobile hotspot and connect the computer with Archer T4U to the 5GHz of the mobile hotspot?

Yes, I tried to but it does not see the Xiaomi Mi 9 Phone 5.0 GHz hotspot.

What is the operating system of your computer?

Windows 10 build 18362.356 is installed on my computer.

With the issue you mentioned happened, does it affect the actual performance of the wireless network? After you reconnect to the 5GHz network, can you get internet?

Yes, I can access the Internet, but when this issue occurs it breaks some wireless data in my software and limits me to only close range networks.

Have you ever tried to connect the T4U to a normal wireless network from a wireless router? Does it work properly?

This is the only way I can connect using T4U, since Xiaomi Mi 9 Phone is not detected. This issue: https://i.ibb.co/556rVxZ/Archer-T4-U-V3-issue.gif  is occurred from using Archer C6 v2.0 router connecting to a normal wireless network by T4U. So, you can see that it does not work properly. Thank you.

Thanks for your reply.

Can it detect the Xiaomi MI 9 hotspot network? And do you have the same issue with Archer T4U connected to the Archer C6?

Have you ever tried to change some wireless settings of the Archer C6?

Below is a public driver for T4U, you can install it and give it a go.

http://support.tp-link.com/f/08cb665963/?dl=1

How to install it manually:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/920/

Still the same, you can search the driver for the Archer T4U online with the chipset, which is RTL8812BU.

Good day.

Hello!

Yes, it has issue with Xiomi Mi 9 Phone 5GHz hotspot network. It does not detect 5GHz hotspot network. Also, it has the issue with Archer C6, but this time it re-plugs itself form USB and breaks networks/wireless data.

I tried to install public driver for T4U from this link: http://support.tp-link.com/f/08cb665963/?dl=1 but it displays the following issue: https://i.ibb.co/pdmGZJx/2019-09-19-145511.png

Also, I have found and installed https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/category/rtl8812bu-software driver for RTL8812BU, but these issues still exists. Is there any better driver for this device? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for your reply.

When you use the Archer C6, have you ever tried to change the wireless channel of the 5GHz to verify whether it can be detected?

For the Xiaomi hotspot 5GHz network, is it possible to customize the wireless network?

Besides, when and where did you buy this network adapter?

Good day.

When I use the Archer C6 router it successfully detects 5GHz network. Yes, for Xiaomi it is possible to change band to 2.4 GHz and it is detected, only 5 GHz is not detected. I bought it on the September 12, 2019 5:19 PM from Rozetka online shop here is the link: https://rozetka.com.ua/ua/tp_link_archer_t4u/p3972120/

Thanks.

@Cobra91151

Thanks for your reply, cause the T4U can detect the 5GHz of the Archer C6, the adapter should be working fine;

Can 5GHz from Xiaomi Mi9 hotspot be detected by other devices? Meanwhile, I tried to google online and found that some people mentioned that the 2.4GHz and 5GHz cannot broadcast at once, you can give a call to Xiaomi tech support to get some suggestion.

Besides, cause there is not much we can do to make the adapter detect the 5GHz of xiaomi, like change it wireless channel, you can return it and get a new one and verify whether it works.

Good day.

Hello!

Can 5GHz from Xiaomi Mi9 hotspot be detected by other devices?

Currently, I do not have other 5GHz device to verify that Xiomi Mi 9 is detected or not.

I tried to google online and found that some people mentioned that the 2.4GHz and 5GHz cannot broadcast at once, you can give a call to Xiaomi tech support to get some suggestion.

Yes, I know that. It only can broadcast 2.4 or 5 GHz and not both at once. Also, I do not think the problem is with phone, I think the problem is with Archer T4U V3 adapter, it only supports limited wireless channels. When the phone broadcast 5GHz it uses the channel which are not supported by this adapter.

These issues with USB replug and channels could be easily fixed by the better driver, but I will think about your suggestion to return it.

Also, I am thinking about buying this device: https://rozetka.com.ua/ua/asus_usb_ac68/p29028673/

But from the docs: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_USB-AC68

It has chipset: Realtek RTL8814AU

Archer T4U V3 has the chipset: Realtek RTL8812BU

So, ASUS device could also have these issues: USB replug and limited channels. I need one device, which will be 100% working device for my work. I do not have time to test different devices and return them. Does TP-LINK/ASUS/Realtek have the 100% working usb device for 2.4/5.0 GHz with all wireless channels, so I can buy it? Thanks.

@Cobra91151

I agreed that it may have something to do with the 5GHz channels; While the channels supported vary depending on different countries and districts cause they have their own regulations and laws. Some Channels are used for Miltary, like band 2 and band 3.

On the contrary, we usually change the channel of the root AP to make it detected by the adapter.

You can return it and order a new one, for the ASUS adapter you mentioned, you can contact them to verify wherther it supports all wifi channels.

Good day.

Hello!

I contacted the online shop and ordered a new ASUS device. They gave me the phone number to contact the local ASUS support, incase of an issue. Also, I decided not to return the Archer T4U V3 device, because it helped me to intercept some WLAN signal code and also it will help me to check the switch between adapters feature in my program. Thank you.
