Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello.

I have Mikrotik router, which is connected to several devices. DECO M4 is also connected directly to Mikrotik.

Devices connected to Mikrotik have IP addresses 192.168.88.XXX and devices connected to DECO have IP addresses 198.168.68.XXX.

I would like to copy files from device 192.168.88.251 to 192.168.68.24, but these devices don't see each other.

I googled the information, but I didn't find how I could set-up DECO M4 network to resolve this problem.

Thanks.

@Nick2019

From your description, both Mikrotik router and Deco M4 work in router mode, that is why the devices connected to the 2 routers are in the two different subnets, and they can not see each other.

First, you can setup the Mikrotik router as bridge mode and the Deco M4 as main router, all devices will connect to the M4 to get internet, in this way, they will be in the same subnet and they can see each other;

Or you can setup Deco M4 as access point mode, then the IP address of devices which connect to the M4 will be assigned by the Mikrotik router, no more different subnets.

For the difference between router mode and AP mode of Deco, please refer to https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2399/

May it help and have a nice day.

@Nick2019

Great to know that. So you can enjoy the internet with the Deco units and can access the local devices.

If need more help, please let us know.

Best regards.

@Kevin_Z

I noticed IN AP mode, parental controls are disabled. In router mode, the config for deco does not last and the device resets to factory settings... Anyone else experiencing this. I am returning my deco to store for a refund, as I cannot get it to hold configuration.

@Nick2019 The problem has not been resolved with the access point mode I think that the issue is the VLAN of my MIKROTIK router I have set up vlan id at DECO with no luck so far
