Model: Deco M9 Plus
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.0

Our Deco m9+ x4 network is distributed on a big area. The distance to one Deco unit is to big so we bought two cpe210 units. I think they are configured as Ap & Client now, the problem is that the far away Deco not will use the Ethernet connection wia the cpe210, instead it use wifi with to the nearest Deco but with poor coverage. How shall I configure the two cpe210 to solve that? Thx in advance!

Dear @JackBaxtech,

JackBaxtech wrote

hi, I'm wondering whether this was resolved?

I would like to use Router > Deco M4 > CPE210 > CPE210 > Deco M4.

Is this possible?

Yes, it's possible. The official firmware has been released to fix the problem, please check the firmware download link below:

Hello, what is the current network diagram? How do you connect them to each other?

What is the model number of the CPE?

The CPE device can be used to connect two devices far from each other, while it is an outdoor device; the performance will be affected a lot once you put it inside.

Besides, with computer connected to the client CPE, can you get internet? And what is the speed you can get from it? Please click here to verify its IP address and gateway obtained by your computer.

Looking forward to your reply.

Good day.

@Kevin_Z sorry for the delay, went to the site today, updated Deco M9+ and Cpe210 v3 units to latest firmware.

Yes a PC can connect to internet via the client Cpe210 with good 80 Mbps (100/10 Mps line from isp) and the same subnet 192.168.68 as the Deco mesh, but the Deco M9+ refuse to use the Cpe-link to join the mesh, tried different Deco - same result. Any suggestions?

Hi,

The reason that your Deco m9 cannot connect to the Internet using the CPE210 as access point is that the decos use their own seperate 5ghz channel as backhaul to communicate with each other. As far as I know, only a deco can relay to another deco because of that. I don't know if you can create the backhaul via ethernet cable though.

@Smed75 thx Smed75 - will go for a ap-solution at the end of the Cpe-link, strange that Tp-link staff not know about that limitation...

Not exactly. The Deco M9 plus supports regular ethernet backhaul and the wifi backhaul. Including 2.4GHz and 5GHz-1. Besides, there is a 5GHz-2 which work for wifi backhaul only.

For the current network diagram, the wireless backhaul is meaningless due to the distance is longer than the wifi coverage area of each unit. Instead, we use the ethernet backhaul to build up the network connection.

Ans back to your case, we found that the CPE does not forward the corresponding packets while make you fail to access internet. But do not worry about that, this issue will be fixed with firmware upgrading. And you can provide the hardware version/firmware version and country version of the CPE210,  then we can offer you a beta firmware to solve it.

Note: You can find the hardware and country version on the back of the actual device, the firmware can be found on the web UI.

May it help.

@Kevin_Z thx for your answer! H/w version is: 3.0, s/w version is: CPE210(EU)_3.0-up-ver2-2-1-P1[20190620-rel61499] & country is: Sweden
We would appreciate a lot if we could get access to a beta software that could solve the problem!

Regards
Göran

Hello Göran, thanks for your reply.

We have submitted the application.  while considering there is no beta firmware for CPE210 EU V3 yet, we need take some time to release a new one to solve your problem.

We kindly ask your understanding and patience. Any updates, we will let you know immediately.

Thanks a lot.
