Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Dear All,

I have purchased this router to use as a wifi access point.

My setup is as follows: Technicolor Router/Modem gets the internet signal from the ISP. To the technicolor is connected a Cisco SG110D-08 switch where all wired computers are connected to and works fine.

The technicolor is set up with the pool 192.168.178.10 - 192.168.178.100.

The tp-link is set up with the pool 192.168.178.101 - 192.168.178.255.

The tp-link has dhcp disabled, and has been changed to access point mode.

Now, if I connect the tp-link directly to the technicolor, tp-link works fine as an access point. But if connecting the tp-link to the switch, I get no internet signal on wifi.

I can´t just choose to have it connected directly, because the plan is to have it providing wifi on the 2. floor in my house, where the wifi from the technicolor cannot reach, and the way the 2nd floor is connected is through the switch.

What could be done to solve this?

Thanks in advance!

@joediesel Found out what the problem was!

Where I tested it on a dual-rj45 wallmounted socketpair, apparently only one device at a time can access the network - or maybe it just won´t work at all when there are two things connected. Not important which one it is: What matters is that there was a raspberry connected to one of the plugs all the time, but at the moment that I unplugged that, the TP-link router started working! :)

@joediesel

Thanks for your updates, glad to hear that you figured it out.

Now you can use the Archer C6 to boost the wifi signal as an access point.

@fff You have an archer c6 that works when connected to the main modem/router but not when on a switch connected to the same? And on the switch, everything else works as it should?
