@Kevin_Z

Thank you so much for the detailed info.

No worries. Thanks for looking through this.

May I confirm again how many wireless devices are connected to the 2.4G network and what are they? Are all of them getting disconnected from the network and unable to connect back? How about the 2.4G signal strength when you try to connect back on those devices?

About 15 in total. 9 or so to the 2.4 Ghz network and 6 or so the 5Ghz network. 2 through ethernet.

What is the firmware of the router and when did you purchase it? Have you tried to reset it to the factory defaults and reconfigure it? If not yet, please give it a shot and see if it changes anything.

Firmware is 20200326-rel63914 purchased on June 1st 2020. So about a month and a half ago.

I did try factory reseting but the problem comes back after about 24 hours of use.

After a lot of trials, I think I found the bug. It seems the router fails to offer an appropriate handshake. I kind of mitigated the issue by setting the WPA setting to AES instead of the default TKIP/AES.

It seems to be a bug that causes connectivity issues after about 24 hours or stagnent use.

Is the network diagram like AT&T modem-AX1800--Wired devices, 2.4G wireless devices, and 5G wireless devices?

Correct. With a couple other devices on the ethernet connected to the AT&T modem directly with the AX1800. When the problem occurs, all devices on the 2.4 Ghz network disconnect and fail to reconnect. All other devices on the 5Ghz network remain fine and so do all the devices connected through ethernet.

@Juswil

Sorry for the inconvenience caused here. We would do some troubleshooting first to narrow down this issue and try to fix it.

May I know who is your ISP?

What is the light status of the AX3000 when the wifi connection drops out? Can you get internet from it via wired cable at that time? Please connect your device to the modem directly to do a comparison test as well.

When the network stops working, please check the IP address and default gateway with your computer connected to the modem/router separately and show me the status-details page. Instruction as below:

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/838/

At that time, please login to the web UI of the Archer AX6000 and take a full screenshot of the Advanced-status page; and go to advanced-system tools-system log  to save and export it to us.

Besides, please follow the instruction below to do some test and tell me which case you belong to.

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2237/

Good day.

@Juswil

I am facing similar issues with a newly bought ax1800.

All connected devices get disconnected and fail to connect untill i reboot the router.

I looked into one of my device's syslog and it seems there is a problem with the way the AP authenticates. I see deauthenticated, reason 14 (MIC_FAILURE) in the logs.

What's up with the router?

Hello, may I know who is your ISP and what is the model number of your modem, please?

When all the devices are disconnected from the internet, how about the internet LED on the AX1800, is it green or orange? If the internet light is orange, please connect one computer to the modem directly and confirm if the internet still works on it.

Additionally, please send me the whole system log from when the internet gets disconnected, please don't reboot the router.

Thanks a lot.

Hello, may I know who is your ISP and what is the model number of your modem, please?

Sure, I am with AT&T and have their default modem. The problem isn't with the internet. devices connected through ethernet continue to work fine. Devices on the 5GHz band of the tp-link router also continue to work fine. The 2.4 Ghz AP borks out and disconnects all devices. When trying to reconnect, I see auth failures on the devices that are trying to connect.

When all the devices are disconnected from the internet, how about the internet LED on the AX1800, is it green or orange? If the internet light is orange, please connect one computer to the modem directly and confirm if the internet still works on it.

All lights stay green

Additionally, please send me the whole system log from when the internet gets disconnected, please don't reboot the router.

I checked and the router logs don't show anything. Here are the network manager logs from one of the devices that fails to connect ( I have highlighted the failures ):

Re:Newly bought router wifi keeps disconnecting

@Tanmay_W

Thank you so much for the detailed info.

May I confirm again how many wireless devices are connected to the 2.4G network and what are they? Are all of them getting disconnected from the network and unable to connect back? How about the 2.4G signal strength when you try to connect back on those devices?

What is the firmware of the router and when did you purchase it? Have you tried to reset it to the factory defaults and reconfigure it? If not yet, please give it a shot and see if it changes anything.

Is the network diagram like AT&T modem-AX1800--Wired devices, 2.4G wireless devices, and 5G wireless devices?

Thanks.

No worries. Thanks for looking through this.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Does this mean the disconnect issue on the 2.4G network is resolved by changing the wireless security of the 2.4G to WPA2-AES? It's good to know that the issue is resolved and we will ask our engineer to check further about this.

Have a nice day.

Hope you guys can resolve the bug through an update.
