Hello all!

I'm thinking to give one more chance to Tp-LINK and buy the new Archer A9.

It look very good. An upgrade of the C7, but with MU-MIMO.

Do you have a opinion?

Thank you!

@Joos

Hello, except the MU-MIMO feature, is there any other network requests?

With more information, we are able to give you a specific answer.

@RSaxena It work good with online games? My last C7 restarted when used with heavy online games (PUBG for example). The UBS sharing works fine?

In Amazon they are selling the Archer A9 and the Archer AX10. Archer AX10 more better that the A9?

Thank you?

@Joos

Hello, the Archer A10 has higher wireless negotiation speed than Archer A9; while there is no USB port on A10.

If the MU-MIMO and USB sharing are necessary features, the Archer A9 would be a good choice.

For the third-party firmware, below is the quotation from Official website:

TP-Link is not obligated to provide any maintenance or support for it, and does not guarantee the performance and stability of third party firmware. Damage to the product as a result of using third party firmware will void the product's warranty.

May it help.

I generally only use Third party firmware after 10 years. Because after a few years the router is no longer updated by the company itself. I just bought A9 router. A10 was not more available.

@Joos

The A9(v6 I suppose) is a "so-so" device, not that bad, not that good for being recommended.

It does provide a solid performance in terms of WiFi speed but when it comes to range it's OKish(kind of) on 5 and mediocre on 2.4 ghz.

Also in terms of range it has some very obvious signal strength variations that don't make any sense to me, other than that it really struggles with range (poor quality antenna+no amplifier combo probably)

I also have a C6(got it for ~30$) and it's hard to see the "performance boost" offered by the A9.

Actually the C6 seems more stable.

Regarding future support from TP-LINK the "A series" is also known as the "Abandoned series" :(

Regarding third party support it will be kind of problematic considering the SoC used in the A9.

Cheers

@SSMP Thank you for your advise.

I thing that I will not have problems with Wifi. Just becouse it is not a priority for me. I use cabled internet conection for my Desktop. And wifi only for my phones and tablet.

I need a router that is stable. That not restart if I'm gaming online.

What router do you suggest?

Best Regards,

Joos

You did mention MU-MIMO as a requirement(and an upgrade over the C7) so I thought WIFI performance was important.

Anyway...if gaming over a wired connection is what interests you most, what's the problem with the C7(V?)? Getting restarted often?

Did you get the chance to test the A9?It might be ok in that respect.

BTW.What is your internet plan?

Cheers
