Hello,

I have a problem connecting TL-WA860RE extender to Archer C9 router.

On my Archer C9 router I use the Access control / White list Wi-Fi security option. After I turned it off I was able to connect the newly bought Wi-Fi extender TL-WA860RE. Strangly the MAC address for the extender, that appears in the Tether app does not mach the one written on the back of the extender. Anyway, I have included both MAC addresses in the White list and have saved the new configuration.

Unfortunatelly, when I reactivate the Access control / White list the router blocks the access for the extender although it is listed in the White list.

I have tried to reset the extender and do the configuration form the beginning but ended up with the same result.

Could you, please, advise on how to proceed in this case?

Thank you!

@mrtn

Hello, the TL-WA860RE uses the proxy mode, that is why you found that the MAC address diaplaying in the Tether app is different from the one on the back panel.

To enable access control(the same as mac filtering) on the Archer C9, you can refer to the instruction below.

May it help.
