Have you tried Qustodio? It's free and you can block sites with minimum manual intervention. It also has a great reporting feature allowing you to view data for the last 30 days and I can actually watch the profile pictures of people with whom my teenager son chats with on Facebook. It's available here

To block certain websites on your PC, here' s the trick (for Windows):
Step 1: Click the Start button and select Run. Now copy and paste the following text in that Run box:
c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Choose “Notepad” to open it.
Step 2: Go to the last line of the file, hit the enter key and type in the following format:
127.0.0.1 xxxx.com
Eg: If you want to block facebook.com and myspace.com
127.0.0.1 facebook.com
127.0.0.1 myspace.com
Step 3: Save the modified file
That’s it. None of the above sites can be visited on your computer.
One per line if you want to add more web sites.
In this way you can only block website one by one, if you want to block websites in large scale, you can use a professional web filter which will help you easily block websites by keywords or URL.

Usually all built in router blocking tools are not easy to use and have a lack of functionality. Standalone solutions can do much more and with more guarantees. We are using special software to block a tons of sites by content, time, etc.. Detailed info

update:
I found out how to block websites on the router this way:
- Log in to your router (the default username and password are both admin)
- Go to "Access Control-Host"
- Click Add New
- Select Mode "IP address" and enter this IP range: 192.168.1.100 - 192.18.1.199 (should cover almost all)
- Then go to Access Control -> Target
- Mode -> Domain Name, Target Example List
- In the example list you will enter the name of the list. that could be ".dk" domains if you wanna block them.
- Enter Domain Names
- https://tempest.dk/
- (it is very important you correct with www or without www)
- Click SAVE
Now go to Access Control -> Rule and Select "Deny the packets specified by any enabled access control policy to pass through the Router"
Thats it! If you want you can play around settings for specific time schedules and more :)
message me if you have questions
