Hi, I'm having the same problem my tp-link freezes several times a day and only a hard reset will get it working again. I have no idea how to fix it, I have contacted tp-link support and they say to make sure I have all the right ADSL configuration parameters. Not really been helpful since it is the first thing I did. Not sure whether it is buggy firmware or a hardware problem.
If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
Thinking of returning it but would prefer to keep it since I am very happy otherwise.

The tech support is really bad, the last bit of technical advice from TP-Link was to reset the router.
Please, get your act together TP-Link. I have to wait 2 days to get such helpful advise. The router won't reset I have to turn it off and on (remember it has frozen and I have told you that it require a hard reset). Furthermore, I have restored to factory defaults and the problem still persists. I have sent this model back, can't put up with it any more or the poor technical support available!

If ADSL diode is the first one (from the left, after power LED), then yes, it's flashes. I have same problem. It's happening at random time, but mostly because of torrents running. If I execute only 1-2 torrents at a time then router is working 2-3 days OK. If I run >50 torrents at once (seeding) then device hangs up after while (30~120min).

Maybe change something in MTU configuration in your router.

It's 1492 by default for ADSL providers (it was 1500 as factory default so I had to change it). If I change MTU to something another then ISP didn't give me default gateway and DNS servers after connecting to ADSL link. And W8968 didn't allow overriding configuration (default gateway) that comes from provider (my D-Link 2540U allows that, but didn't have wi-fi).

ADSL light should be solid and it means it is synchronized. Otherwise, your internet will not be working properly even configured correctly.
You may contact your ISP to confirm that phone line is working OK or use a different modem to test.
Try to reset TD-W8968.
If it still happens with tplink device only, then I think it is faulty indeed.
