Trying to figure out speed issues.

Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version:

Setup: Archer C7 as main router. 2 wdr3500 configured as access points fed by cat 6.

Hello all maybe someone here can help. I just raised my internet isp speed to a 500mbps plan. After doing so my wireless connect off of the C7 was around 150mbps and wired was near 230mbps. Both numbers seemed low so I started researching. I found that NAT boost was off, switched it to on rebooted and boom, speeds wireless in the 300mbps range and wired in the 500mbps range. Seemed like it was all good. But in switching the NAT boost on the access point lost most of their speed dropping from an average of 95mbps to less than 30mbps. Both wired and wirelessly.

Is is there something I’m missing with the NAT boost vs the ap s? Any help is greatly appreciated. I’d like to keep the most speed coming off the main router and have the APs get back to the near 100mbps they are cable of.

Thanks

Jay

Hello, what is the hardware and firmware version of the Archer C7?

Have you ever enabled any advanced feature on it? Like QoS.

With WDR3500 connected to the Archer C7 by wired cable, please connect your computer to the WDR3500 by wired cable and run the speed test; and please click here to get the wired negotiation speed. Note; The steps are the same, except you need click ethernet connection.

And please ensure that tthe firmware of the WDR3500 is up to date.

Good day.

@Kevin_Z

C7 is a version 4 with the most up to date firmware.

The WDR3500 s are also up to date on firmware.

WIth out the NAT Boost the access points both have speeds of 95mbps wired and wirelessly which is full for the connection. After enabling it it drops to between 25-30mbps both wired and wirelessly.

QOS is not enabled on the C7

Thanks for your reply.

That is a little weird, theoretically, it won't affect the performance of the access point.

Have you ever tried to reset the WDR3500 and reconfigure it as the access point to test its performance?
