So without doing any prior research, I’m setting up internet for myself for the first time. I default paid for the cheapest plan and a relatively che vshareap modem/router and got it activated yesterday. Before I set it up I was able to use  FetLife  xfinity hotspots from my apartment because I am now a paying xfinity customer. I’ve avoided doing anything sensitive like banking while in their hotspots in case it’s not safe, but one of the ones I ca https://discord.software/n connect to is ‘secure’ (has a lock next to it). After I finally set up/activated my cheap internet service I discovered it’s too slow to do essentially anything.

Is there any reason not to just use the secure xfinity hotspot forever and just keep paying for the cheapest plan?

I’m not very well versed in internet stuff so let me know if this needs more explanation.
