Speed Problems with WLAN Extension
Hi,
I just bougt the WLAN extension and installation was easy. Unfortunately I'm dissatisfied with the speed. The situation is as followed:
- Internet-Connection via WLAN-Modem (Speed-Test): around 90 Mbps
- Internet-Connection via Extender (Speed-Test): around 5 Mbps!
This is the case even if the extender is next (1 meter) to the WIFI-Router as well as if the extender is located in the room next door.
BUT: The connection beteween my notebook (MacBook Pro 2018 also with my iPhone) and the extender seems to be quite ok (140 Mbps).
I'm a bit clueless how to solve this problem.
Thanks for help!

@Kevin_Z Just updated the firmware to the current version. now I can reach at least 45 Mbits + which is way better then before. That works good for me!
thanks for your support

Hello Christof, we will do some troubleshooting to locate this issue and try to fix it.
1. What is the speed you can get from the TL-WA860RE by wired cable?
2. Next to the TL-WA860RE, what is the speed you can get from the main router on your cellphone?
3. Is it the wireless negotiation speed you mentioned?
4. Please ensure that the firmware of the extender is up to date, and you can change the wireless settings of the main router to improve the wireless performance.
Thanks a lot.

@Kevin_Z Thanks for your reply and sorry for my delay :-)
regarding your questions:
1) unfortunately I have no wired cable interface on my macbook
2) it depends a bit, but around 90 to 100 Mbps
3) It is the "TX Rate" shown on the details of the wifi connection
4) how can I update the firmware? couldn't find it
thanks for your help in advance!

You can log into the web UI of the TL-WA860RE to get the current firmware version and hardware version.
Then you can verify whether it is the latest one, if not, you can update the firmware.

Besides, you can move the extender further away from the main router, like 3 meters away and then please test the speed you can get from the extender.
Good day.
