AX6000 wifi 2.4ghz, upload speeds higher than download

Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 20191203 rel.80781 (beta)

Please help!!!

After buying this router, because of the great testreviews, it had speed issues and unstable 5ghz wifi.
After installing the beta firmware, the 5ghz is stable.

But the range is not as large as I expected for a router in this price range.
Okay, I placed the old R7000 in the attic as an access point.
The range is therefore no longer a major problem.

The biggest problem is the WiFi speed at 2.4ghz.

This is dramatic, even just a few meters away from the router.
I have 250/25 delivered by my provider.
Unfortunately, the download speed is not higher (at 2.4ghz) than +/- 20 mbps, while the upload does have the maximum speed of 25Mbps.

(Up and download speed at 5ghz is 100% :   250/25)

I have tried all different settings, different channels, 20mhz / 40mhz,  airtime fairness on / off..... I have tried everything.
The connection status is "excellent" with a link speed of 150Mbps or 72Mbps on different devices.

Nothing helps to increase the actual download speed ...

Even connected to the old R7000 in the attic (4th floor and 2 conrete floors), the connection is faster than connected to the AX6000 that is a few meters away.

A modern router of this price range should have more power... as in the reviews, but has not in "real life"

Please give tips, otherwise this router will go back to the store.

@rick1975

Hello, thanks for your information.

For your information, the actual wireless speed can be affected by a lot, such as the wireless link speed, the obstacles and interferences. Generally speaking, the wireless speed is about 50%-60% of the wireless link speed.

As you mentioned, the wireless link speed is 150Mbps/72Mbps; to be honest, it is not a strong wireless link speed; but we can do further analysis to give it a go.

1. Do all devices have the same issue when they connect to the 2.4GHz?

2. Try to change the wireless settings to give it a go. You can change the wireless channel and channel width.

3. With your device connected to the R7000's 2.4GHz, what are the actual speed and wireless link speed you can get? Please show us the speed test results.

Note: You can click here to know how to get wireless link speed.

4. Besides, you can try to upgrade the driver of your 2.4GHz wireless devices.

May it help.

thanks Kevin_Z  for your reaction.

All 2.4ghz  devices connected to the Ax6000 has low speed.

These are all android devices. All windows devices are connected with cable.

Updating the drivers of android devices is for as far as i know, not possible.

I know that a linkspeed of 150 / 72 is not a high , (the 5ghz gives linkspeeds of 433 or 866 on some devices)

Only the 2.4 ghz devices qualify the strenght as "excellent"

I can't understand why download is lower than upload wich is constantly a flat 25Mbps in the tests

Some times with Oakle speedtest, the speed is shooting to high level and droppes directly tot max 20Mbps

I will make soms screenshots with the speed en linkspeed an post them.

thanks again for response

@rick1975

Tried again different setting, no result.

Here screenshots of speedtest and linkspeed

Nokia 5.1+,  connected to AX6000 2.4Ghz
Download is lower then upload,

Linkspeed 150 Mpbs

Strenght: excellent

Nokia 5.1+ connected to the R7000, again 2.4GHZ
Linkspeed: 72 Mbps
Strenght: raisonnable

Both tests are made on the same couch in the livingroom.
The AX6000 is about 6 meters away.
The R7000 (accesspoint connected to Ax6000) is located in the attic with 2 concrete floors in between.

I don't understand how a old router in the attic is faster the a new modern Ax6000 ????

@rick1975

Thanks for your valued reply.

You can move your device further away from the Archer AX6000 and test the speed.

Besides, our engineer will email you later and try to give you a specific answer.

Good day.
