Deco M4 - speed capped at 100Mbps
Hi
I've been using Deco M4 since 5 months.
The setup was:
Broadband modem ==> Deco M4 1st unit ==> Deco M4 2nd unit.
Earlier my broadband was only 100Mbps and later I've upgraded it to 200Mbps.
My broadband modem and Deco M4 1st unit is connected using a Cat 6 ethernet cable. But still the maximum speed I'm receiving is capped at 100Mbps via Deco.
When I directly connect to my broadband modem then I'm receiving speeds upto 200Mbps.
Followed the troubleshooting steps on Deco but it didn't help!
Thanks

Thank you very much for your detailed information;
For your case, I would like to forward your case to the senior engineers for further help, and please have a check of your email box.
At the same time, May I know how many devices do you have that would connect to the Deco system?

Currently I'm in touch with the TP-Link senior engineer and we're trying to find a root cause of this error.
Right now I'm testing new Deco software that should get rid of the speed limitation.
I will let you know about any progress

@Malice are you testing a new candidate firmware? Any progress? My cables are cat6 brand new and this 100mbps limit is constant. Disconect and conecting cables again and switching ports works but If reboots for any reason i stay capped to 100mbps again. Give us some hope as fast as you can

We would like to follow up on your case via email as well;
At the same time, could you please help me check the following information:
1.If only the main Deco is connected, Would there still be a speed limit?
2.Did all your devices have the same issue?
3.When the speed was capped at 100m/s, if not rebooting the Deco or switching the ports, would the speed be limited to 100m/s all the time?
Thank you very much.

1 - Yes but If disconnect the cable and/or switch the port I can get gigabit speed
2 - I have 3 Deco M4 If the main is capped on 100mbps everything on my lan stay capped too. Eventually, main Deco can be ok but other Deco is capped to 100mbps.
3 - Yes, the main solution is pull off the cable wait few seconds and/or switch ports when connecting again, first in the main Deco and then on the others Deco If necessary. All 3 Decos can have this same problem together or alone. On the capped 100mbps Deco the wi-fi clients stay capped too. This tell me that the wired (backhaul) connection between decos are limited to 100mbps.
My cable Lan topology:
Modem/Router ISP (Bridge mode) --- Main Deco (Router mode) ---- TP-LINK switch LS1005G ----- Deco 2, Deco 3, Tv and Computer ALL connected by Brand New good quality cat6 or cat5e cables. Others devices connected wireless.
Others infos:
Each Deco is connected wired to the switch and the other port is connected to a wired client (tv or Computer)
Now, everything is ok but If turn off or reboot or disconnect cables between decos, eventually I Will be capped to 100mbps in one or more Decos. I never used Qos or high priority device.
I installed the same 3 pack Deco on a friend's house but there ,only the main Deco is wired (Router mode) to the modem/Router ISP (Bridge mode). One Day he tells me that his Computer wired to the other remaining main Deco Port was capped to 100mbps speed. Following my instructions to connect/disconnect and switch ports, problem was solved.
Initialy I was thinking this were a cable problem but after so many reports without other explanation, like Qos set to 100mbps or a high priority device, I assume there's something different wrong.

It would be really nice to know exactly why does the use of the Deco E4 limits speed to 100Mbps !!
I've tried everything and always get capped at 100Mbps... I had a 500Mbps connection and now, after installing 2 Deco E4, that is gone, only 100Mbps.
Hope we can find some solution.

Hi, is the Deco model E4 but not M4, right? As you can find from the specification on the official website that the Deco E4 is equipped with 2× 10/100 Mbps Ports, so the speed is normal:
https://www.tp-link.com/home-networking/deco/deco-e4/#specifications
If you are getting a bandwidth higher than 100M, the Deco E4 may not be suitable for your network, you need to use a device with gigabit Ethernet port to achieve the speed you paid for.
