Model: Archer C2
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I have an Archer C2 that I use as wifi access point.

Connected as following :

- VOO modem in the garage (192.168.0.1) LAN port 1 -> network switch cisco 24 ports -> different plugs of the house including a printer (ip 192.168.0.x), some desktop pc, nintendo switch, wii-U console, etc...

port 2 -> Internet port of the Archer C2 in the living room. Generates a wireless network (192.168.1.0)

The modem has DHCP from 192.168.0.100 to 199.

my problem : when I use it like this, I cannot print documents from laptops connected to the wifi because the printer is not on the same network.

solution tried : instead of pluging the C2 to the internet port, I use one of the LAN plug and on the C2 configuration web interface, set the LAN IP adress to 192.168.0.2, disable dhcp (to use only 1 the dhcp server of the main modem).  Like this, my wifi items receive 192.168.0.xxx adress and I can use the printer, but in this case, internet is not very stable (a lot worst comparing with when I connect the C2 to the internet port).  I lose and recover internet from time to time and I am not satisfied with this solution.

My question : when I have my wifi network on 192.168.1.xxx, is there an option on the archer C2 that allows wifi equipment to have access to my printer (192.168.0.x) ?

I am not an IT network specialist as you can understand...

Thanks in advance for your support

Christophe

Hi,

Finally, I have plugged the Archer on the WAN port (so wifi on 192.168.1.x).  The printer as been set to fix ip and this adress is given to DMZ.  The printer as been installed on every pc and it works fine !

Thanks again for your support :-)

Hello Christophe, due to the double NAT issue ( different IP subnet), the devices connected to the Archer C2 cannot access the printer which connects to the switch; like you mentioned, you can switch the Archer C2 as access point ( No DHCP server, the same subnet LAN IP), all the devices can access each other.

If you want to use the Archer C2 as the regular router and access the printer, you can enable DMZ for your PC which connects to the Archer C2, and then add the printer into your PC under printer page. Then you can try to print and verify whether it works.

Good day.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.  I forgot to mention something.  I have another small access point connected to my main network (192.168.0.x), a tp link nano router.

So I have 2 different SSID on the same network.  Could this cause my stability problems ?

Regards,

Christophe

Hello Christophe, thanks for your reply.

The wireless interference will affect the performance. You can unplug the nano router and use Archer C2 only as the regular access point to give it a go.

Good day.
