Any idea what is going on?

 

Symptom

    install went fine; no complications; fresh firmware during install

    all works fine for a few days

 

    "can't connect to internet" error from every device

     Deco box and helpers show red lite

     modem shows "internet on"

 

Action

     power off modem

     power off Deco box

    ... wait...

     power on modem, wait for solid "internet on" lite

     power on Deco box, wait for solid white

     wait for "helpers" all green

 

Net access now restored... until next time

    

Topology

   Charter Comm is ISP

    Arris TM1602A cable modem

   Deco-M4 US v1. 0 w/ wire conx to modem; box central to 1 story house

   two Deco "helpers"

   computer wire conx to Deco box

   tablets & devices use wifi

Thanks for the information provided. 

 

When the Deco M4 stops working and became red, please connect your computer to the cable modem directly to verify whether you can access internet. 

 

In the meantime, please click here to get the IP address and gateway obtained by your PC. 

 

If it works well, please connect the PC back to the main Deco via ethernet cable and open Deco app to clone MAC address. 

Note: Open Deco app, go to more-advanced-MAC clone, enable it and choose " Use Client MAC Address" and select the computer. 

 

Besides, you can swap the locations of the Deco units or switch the slave Deco to the main Deco to give it a shot.

If so, how?

rom a browser, how do I take steps needed to correct this disconnect?

 

I installed for my bro-in-law in another state.  so I have the app but he only has a browser.
