Model: TL-WA860RE
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: TL-WA860RE(EU)_V5_191216

Hi there,
setting up the TL-WA860RE Repeater with my Easybox 804 Router worked without any trouble, using app or web interface.
but i can't get it working when i activate the mac filter mode on the router, > which is a feature i really don't want to miss.

usually when i have a new gadget, i disable mac filtering, connect it to wifi, add it to the mac list by clicking on a button, then i activate mac filtering again and it works.
in this case it did not happen. it adds a mac adress that is almost similar to the one that is printed on the back of the repeater but both of them don't work.
when l log into the web interface, there's a third version of the mac adress, which also don't work when added to the list.

here's an example with the partially blackened true mac adress:

backprint mac adress
50 - XX - XX - XX - XX - 52

actual mac adress (added from router)
52 - XX - XX - XX - XX - 52

tp link mac adress (from tp-link web interface)
50 - XX - XX - XX - XX - 53

there's no connection from the TP-Link Repeater to the router and internet when mac filter on the router is ON.
both works when mac filter is OFF.

i allready tried these 16 combinations without success

50 / 50  51 / 50  52 / 50  53 / 50
50 / 51  51 / 51  52 / 51  53 / 51
50 / 52  51 / 52  52 / 52  53 / 52
50 / 53  51 / 53  52 / 53  53 / 53

how can that be?

@wlan_cableguy

You can follow the instruction to give it a go: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/927/

If it is still the same, you can show us a screenshot of the Mac filtering settings page on the main router.

@Kevin_Z

Thank you for your prompt reply Kevin_Z!

I read the article but still can't get any further. What i've learned so far, is that mac adresses sometimes change.
There's also the virtual mac adress, which is generated by routers and repeaters, right?
Somehow, the backprinted mac adresses seem to work every single time, except here.

Quote from the FAQ
>> " c. It is not recommended to configure White list on router, in view of that RE’s MAC addresses are too complicate to find and add completely. "
Thats exactly what i'm trying to do.

WA860RE Repeater's (or Range Extender) web interface is a simplyfied one. The only thing i was able to change is between repeating or access point.
No Proxy, WDS or Universal Mode. Maby it's adopting it from the router's source signal?

Here is a screenshot of the TP-Link web interface
> Router's Whitelist Mac Filter is set to ON

Easybox 804 (White) Mac List

These are two screenshots with different dimesions

I left our the 4 boxes in the middle for privacy reason, they are all the same.

As allready mentioned in the post, it's not working with mac whitelist ON, it works only when it's set to OFF.
What am I missing here?

@wlan_cableguy

Hello, it seems that the MAC addresses you added are incorrect.

We can take 50-xx-40-xx-52 (the MAC printed on the label) as example. To make TL-WA860RE to the main router with MAC filtering on, we need put the two MAC address attached below into the whitelist:

1. 52-xx-39-xx-53

2. 52-xx-39-xx-52

For the devices connected to the TL-WA860RE, you need add their MAC addresses as well. Like 52-xx-39-xx-xx-xx ( the last 3 parts are the same as the actual mac address of this device)

May it help.
