4x KC120 motion duration keeps resetting
4x KC120 motion duration keeps resetting
the setting for "record motion that lasts at least" with the slider resets to 1.0 seconds after: a power cycle, a wifi drop, and also just at random times
to reproduce:
drag slider to 2.0 seconds
wait a day or two or three
camera will have gone back to 1.0 seconds by itself
steps taken already:
removed cam from account and reset
removed kasa app
restarted router (tplink vr2800)
restarted phone
reinstalled kasa app
added device back to account and reset
problem remains. *at some point* the time will reset to 1.0 seconds no matter where i set it to. problem exists on 4x kc120 cams. problem also exists with other routers (took cam to a friend's home and they used it for a week)
firmware update needed?

Hello,
This case is a little wired, we will do some analysis. What's your phone's model number and system version? What's the Kasa app version?
What's the camera's MAC address?
When did you buy the camera and when did the issue happen? Where did you use the camera?
Good day.

@Stella.Q tested on: galaxy s10 on android 10, galaxy s8 on android 9, galaxy s6 on android 8 and galaxy s4 on android 5
kasa app version is 2.19.0.991 although also have problem from 2.17... all the way to today
i am not writing my mac addresses (four... not one...) in public
i bought the *four* cameras from amazon, at 3-monthly intervals throughout 2019
**slide to 2.0 seconds and save... unplug cameras... plug cameras back in... is 1.0 seconds...**
*this is either firmware or cloud problem*
edit: problem has existed for around 2 to 3 months

@Stella.Q what?

Thanks for the info.
We confirmed with our product engineer, the default value for "record motion that lasts at least" is 1.0 second, so after the camera reconnects back to the cloud, that setting will recover back to 1.0 second.

@Stella.Q (thankyou to moderators for removing the spam)
thankyou for looking at the problem and confirming
so will a new firmware come soon? or will this be fixed in cloud?
(i ask because my kl130 light was promised firmware to show network name in device info *many* months ago but we are all still waiting :-( )

@Ricky666 I'm having the same thing happen all the time and it's really frustrating. I bought the cameras because I suspect someone has been entering my property. If that is the case, how can I rely on the cameras to accurately record and alert me to motion or sound detection if my preferences (which I set to be very sensitive for audio and visual) keep being reset?
i also experience the reset happening to other values than 1.0. I choose 0.1, but have gone into find it set at 0.2s and also 2.0s as well as 1.0s.
i have also had my preference changed for recording audio and visual - to just visual and once it was changed to neither. I have screenshots that show the preferences locked in at these values that I didn't nominate.
It leaves me questioning reliability of the cameras to do what I bought them to.
Frustrating too because apart from this, I've found the quality of the cameras impressive especially for their price.

@Ricky666 Sorry for the late reply. This will be fixed in the new firmware, but the release time is unsure yet, we will let you know on this post when we have a sure time. You can also keep your eyes on our official website or the app.
Have a good day.

@Stella.Q thankyou for the reply and confirmation. where are current firmwares listed on the website? (i only ever open the app when i have had a power cut to fix this fault)
p.s: please remind the firmware team about the known issue with KL130 bulbs not showing the name of the SSID in 'device info'. this was also promised *many* months ago but it has not happened
