Regular Ping/Lag Spikes on Deco M9
I'm having an issue of a perfectly regular ping spike when using the Deco M9.
The chart below shows a ping to the main Deco. You can see the perfectly regular ping spikes. This is just a local ping as you can see from the IPs, it has nothing to do with my internet connection, which is a stable 350mbs. So we can discount that.
Other points which may help diagnose:
- The speed I achieve is good. (from the laptop that created the screenshot below - which I imagine is connected to the satellite)
- Both Decos lights are green. And a distance of about 7m between the master and the only satellite.
- Latest Firmware
- Anti Virus is turned off and QOS isn't weighted at all, all I've done is set the conncetion speed via the speed test as without that there was some noticeable throttling.
- Have tried factory resetting and swapping the 2 Deco master around. Still same issue.
- Deco in Router mode
- Internet (Router in modem mode) --> Master Deco --> 5 port Netgear Switch with a few devices
This lag spike occurs every 50s or so, makes gaming impossible, and is a serious regression in performance over my non mesh network.
Please advise what might be the source, or if there's anyhting else I can do to diagnose.

@TP-Link I have the same problem, installed deco m9+ yesterday (2 pieces - one still pending install).
Every 14s my network stream (on my windows 10 PC) was lagging..
I tried to globally disable roaming, but it didn't worked...
I think I solved it by disabling mesh only for the PC that was lagging. I also added it to the QOS as high priority... but the mesh disable for the device was the solution.
Hope it helps...

@oller I have thwe same issue. Ping spikes every 5-10 sec.
In my case it was Firefox causing it.
When closing Firefox ping is normal.
I run Firefox for some hour or a day, the the spikes begins again.
I dont know how to fix Firefox from doing this.

same ping issues with the wifi of my new 3 deco m4.
With lan cable the ping is stable.
I desactivated my PC from the QoS favorite List but nothing changed. Firmware is updated.
Should I try to activate the bridge mode of my own router?
Help @TP-Link Team!

I have the same problem. Several M9 Pluses and a couple of M5s. Utterly useless. Cannot do video calls, gaming for the kids is rubbish.
I've been battling this for months and am now out of warranty. I am so angry about how much I have spent on this kit and how utterly useless it is that I think it will end up in the small claims court - a UK thing where you can sue for breach of contract very cheaply and easily.
It doesn't matter to me whether it's a wifi ping thing, or a windows 10 scan thing - the base technology ought to be able to handle it. The denial from TPLink on other forums is amazing! "Average pings are fine" - errrr 5ms 5ms 5ms 4000ms 5ms is NOT OK.
This product is simply not fit for purpose as it stands.

@TP-Link IT DOES NOT WORK, i have the same issue, frequent lag spikes and it's crazy bad, cannot play any online game, you need to fix this ASAP, it's a shame that I spent hundreds of euros in the Deco system and it's so shitty.
In any case my setup is the following:
Deco M9 main unit connected to the modem
Deco M9 satellite connected to the main one
PC connected via ethernet to the deco M9 satellite
Software version 1.5.1
FIX IT NOW
