Model: TD-W9970
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 0.9.1 v009f.0 Build 200227 RC.31528n

My iPrimus-supplied modem died, so I bought a TD-W9970 to replace it. All the lights are solid green, and the status page shows IP address and all that jazz, so I'm 99.9% sure it's setup correctly. However, it will not connect to the internet properly; it either will not connect at all, or if it does say I'm connected, every website gives me a TLS/SSL protocol error in every browser (Opera, Firefox, Edge), and my mail client can't connect to my mail server. WiFi is working, as is ethernet, insofar as I can always access the modem. I thought it was a Win10 issue until I tried to connect my Android phone and got the same roadblock. It sees the WiFi and connects to the modem but can't get to the internet. Clearly the issue lies somewhere in the modem itself but I'm stuffed if I can figure it out. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. (I'm writing this using my phone as a mobile hotspot)

@Minimal_Risk

Change the DNS to either 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1

You're set up ok and connected so the problem looks like the router can't find a valid DNS service to go through, hth.

Didn't help, unfortunately but the DNS servers listed are the iPrimus ones for Melbourne, so they are valid. :(

Thanks for the response, though.

@Minimal_Risk

NP and thx for popping back, only other thing is does your ISP require an account name and password to access the internet, these will be asked for when first setting up the unit, only other thing I can think of right now is does your ISP have a policy that says it's ok to use routers not supplied by them?

@Hannibal_Lack  Hi there. Yeah, it turned out I was using the wrong login but even after I got the correct login username and p/w, it still won't work. iPrimus doesn't explicitly state anywhere on their website--in fact, they don't really state much of anything on their website--that you can't use a 3rd party modem/router but I am beginning to suspect they really prefer it if you use one they supply. A suspicion based on the fact I am back on the internet using my ISP because it turned out my dead Hauwei modem was still under warranty, so they sent me another free of charge, and it connected straight away using tr069. I've been trying to input the same information into the TP-Link but there's stuff I can't access, or change, so it hasn't helped.
