Model: Archer C3200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I've just purchased a second-hand Archer C3200 from eBay (We have about 15-20 devices online at a time so I thought a tri-band access point might help)...

However...it was sent with a 12V 1A (12W) power supply, and the device itself says it needs 12V 5A (60W)

The seller is offereing £10 for me to buy a replacement PSU, and there are plenty of cheapo PSUs at about that price.  Except, they all generally say they're for LED Light Strips, etc.  So, I just don't know if they're a good idea, or if I'd be risking the router and/or a house fire (okay, that's a bit over the top, but hey...)

Would any-one here have any actual experience of a similar scenario?  Or have a view on whether I should pay to return the item to the seller?

Cheers,

Mat.

(I tried to link to ebay, but it appears I'm not allowed)

@MatBailie

Hi Mat, generally speaking, it is suggested to use the original power adapter, while cause the power supply does not match, you can purchase a power supply which is 12V/5A.

Good day.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. My question was more around whether buying a "random" 12V/5A power supply from eBay is sufficient, or if their are any issues I should be mindful to avoid. Particularly when they invariably just say "for LED light strips"; it sounds like they're trying to make get-out clauses, and that makes me uncomfortable. Cheers, Mat. (Using the original power supply isn't an option, as the seller didn't provide it, they provided replacement instead, which turns out to be insufficient.)
