Hi, there seems to be a problem with Archer AX10 Wifi 6 routers with computers that use the Intel AX200 Wifi 6 card. There is no problem with connecting to the 5G network which has Wifi 6; however, when using the 5G Wifi 6 to download large files such as games from Steam, the wifi cuts off and restarts the router. It also sometimes only cuts the 5G wifi and the 2.4G wifi is still showing in the wifi menus but it is unable to connect. When using the 2.4G wifi which only uses Wifi 4 (using the same Intel AX200 Wireless Card), the downloads are fine and the router does not restart. 

 

At first, I believe it is only my router being faulty. I contacted the distributor and they tried to recreate the problem with my router using the Archer TX3000E PCIE adapter card, but the router was working fine for them. After testing for a while, the distributor kindly gave me a replacement AX10 Router to see if the problem still persists. Unfortunately after further testing with the replacement AX10 Router, the 5G Wifi 6 still cuts when downloading large files or casual gaming, while the 2.4G Wifi 4 functions fine with no problems. Therefore, I can conclude there either is a problem with the Archer AX10 models with its Wifi 6 implementation or it has compatibility issues with the Intel AX200 card.

 

The two revisions on the AX10 are V1.2, meaning it is the newest version of the AX10. Is there a firmware upcoming that may fix this problem?

If anyone still encounters the auto-reboot issue with the Archer AX10/AX1500, especially working with an AX200 adapter, please try to update your router firmware to the below one and monitor the outcome.

I have not seen hardware verison 1.2. That is interesting.

Hi, thanks for your reply. It's good to know I'm not alone with problems with the router. Have you also tried to see if it's only the WiFi 6 implementation of the router that's faulty? It seems to work fine in WiFi 5 mode.

I have only tried WiFi 6 (802.11ax only mode).  That's what I needed this device for.  Maybe WiFi 6 generates more heat?

@AnthonyTP Yes, that's what I observed as well. Wifi 5 is fine, in wifi 6 mode, the router reboots intermittently, very frustrating. 
Mine is Archer AX10 v1.2 running latest firmware.

I've also experience quite similar issues. Running Ubuntu 20.04 on Lenovo P1 Gen2 with Intel AX200 on it.

One thing I observedt is that IP6 traffic seemed to be working when nothing else is (but only if I had dual IPv4/IPv6 enabled in the settings).
This doesn't help much since many sites still don't seem to support IPv6 (and probably to use it at all you need your ISP to have enabled it).


Anyway, a few days a go did some changes to settings and now I haven't experienced cuts anymore.
I'm not sure which change is important so here's all of them:
- Smart WIFI off (this is my main suspect)

- turn on MU-MIMO
- Make LAN subnet to use be else than the default 192.168.0.X, i.e., modify the 0 to be some other number.

@jjj6 Hey, if thats the case, then the culprit might be found. My router reboots with smart WIFI off and MU-MIMO turned on. I haven't tried the LAN subnet change, but if it works then thats the main problem.

Yeah, looks like it is ok now after changing the subnet. I'm still monitoring it but it looks promising at the moment running in AX mode.

Quick update: Issue still remains, router did not reboot, it hung...

 

Turning off the AX mode for now until TP-Link figures out the root cause and issues firmware fix for this crap router...

@Esker Yep, I've got the same problem. Gonna just stick with AC mode until TP-Link fixes their AX mode. Hopefully it will be fixed by the time when OneMesh update comes out.

@Esker Hey, do you know what WIFI 6 device you're using to connect to the WIFI? Are you also using an Intel AX200 card or another WIFI 6 device?
