I have reset the router (for other reasons), and the tether app is now working. It feels to me to be very poor software design, if the only way to fix an app for a mobile device to manage a router is to hard reset the router, especially, as, for me, that would have involved changing pretty much everything about the config (including the IP address range used). However, as good as the actual router seems to be, I am no longer using my TPLink as a primary, and it is in fact, now only in use by one device (which can't seem to handle using the 5ghz wifi on a dual frequency wifi network.

@taikos2022 This is what finally worked for me:  go to the web setup page, click "advanced" - "system tools" - "administration" - "local management" and add the mac address of your phone.  An uninstall/reinstall of the tether app after this may be necessary.

I am experiencing the same problem with the Tether app on my Galaxy S10+ and on my Galaxy tablet. I recently installed an RE300 Range Extender and the extender device opens on the Tether app with no password issues. I can then select and open the the router device in the Tether app. This is a work around that needs to be fixed by

Tp-Link.

I also have the Archer A9 but am reluctant to do a factory reset on the router because I have 25 devices/sensors connected directly (WiFi) and indirectly (Zwave and Zigbee). Hopefully TP will acknowledge the glitch and issue an app update.

@CRW

Hello, thanks for asking again.

Can you please confirm what is the current Tether app version on the Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy tablet? Have you tried cgideon's suggestions?

@CRW

Exactly the same problem here. No way to access thru tether app. Only I can access with ip http://192.168.0.1/

Repeater dont have any problem, but main router does.

Really annoying issue, already try other devices, and nothing.

Hope it will be solved soon.

Sorry for the delay, the version is: 1.1.0 Build 20200416 rel. 72485 The only way I can access the Archer 9 screen is through the RE300 screen dropdown. The RE300 login works, but the Archer 9 login gives me an error that password is incorrect.

@js001 Trash the TP-Link router and purchase a NETGEAR. TP-Link has no intension of fixing their app.
